Kenya's new job - tracking
Kenya's been "retired" for about a year, I've been trying to find something that is very enjoyable and stress-free for her. Three times now I've had her along at SchH club and done a puppy track, and each time she has taken to it like flies on a poo. Genetically I think she is far...

How do you motivate a party girl?
Veronica is not one of those dogs with a "work ethic". I know. I've seen them. She's a party girl. Loves people, solicites attention. Obsessed with other dogs (dominant and snotty, so she doesn't get to meet) but she has to know where they are and what they're doing and with...

Good food for senior, small breed dogs?
I am trying to find a good food for all of my dogs. I have a 14 year old chihuahua with heart, liver and kidney issues, a 9 year old chihuahua, and a 6 year old shih tzu with immune mediated polyarthritis. I know my older chi should be on something low sodium for her heart, but I don't know if that...

Dockdogs (BlackLabbie)
First things first, The Kennel Shop in Scarborough, ME did a stellar job hosting the Dockdogs! What a great weekend! We had such a fun time! We ended up staying at a Motel 6 (the only place we could find that allowed pets at a reasonable rate) for one night. How funny is this: a dog show and an agility...

Schutzhund questions
So Lies' post about Nikon's BH reminded me that I had a few questions you all might be able to answer for me. I'm thinking about doing Schutzhund obedience just for the challenge of it (looks more interesting to me than AKC competition obedience), but there appears to not be any club(s) within...

Is this ok to feed a large breed pup?
My friend was wanting me to ask you if it's ok to feed a pup who's gonna be 70lbs when full grown Taste of the Wild. She thinks since it says all life stages it's ok. Dont get me wrong I loved this food. I fed it to my Dalmatian the last couples years she was alive and loved the results....

New BH
Nikon passed the BH today! By my standards he did passably horrid, the worst he's ever done in training or the "mock" BHs we've setup, but I'm told that I'm my own worse critic. Before we went out, someone else was saying she doesn't get nervous anymore because no matter...

Odor free bully sticks?
I always have to send my dogs outside when I give the bully sticks, they smell so bad. Where do you get the "odor free" ones I hear about? Can you buy them in bulk?

I love feeding raw!!
So if my math is right, Sandy gets 0.26lbs a day which works out to about 8lbs of food a month.. 8lbs!! My only complaint is variety.. Lol. I'm talking to the butcher right now about buying full animals. I'd rather just toss Sandy a small chicken or something once a day. But her coat is amazing...

Raw Recreation Bones
Hey guys...quick question. This weekend I just started researching raw diets...I need lots of time to learn this stuff...but for fun I bought my kiddos some raw beef bones (the recreation ones...Primal brand) mainly because I could not resist...and they had a BLAST with them out in the cool grass...

Bear meat?
OK -- so who's fed it to their dogs? I have some great friends who are active hunters, they recently got a large black bear... and have a ton of meat they are going to give me a bunch (as we both feed raw). I have spoken to a few people about this, one person fed a lot of bear meat and (coincidentally...

BJ's brand Holistic Dog Food
BJ's now has a holistic dog food under the Berkley and Jenson name and it is made by Mars. Does anyone know anything else about it? I can't remember, but I think the ingredients looked ok. Is Mars bad? I am looking for a new food for one of my dogs.

Won't eat need help!
So I've had Luger for 3 weeks now and still having trouble with getting him to eat. He was 10lbs when I brought him home and nice to look at. I took him to the vet because I was worried about him not eating and he's only 11lbs. Hipbones protruding and ribs easy to see. I tried Diamond Naturals...

What is the best site/books etc for Raw diets.
Hi all! I have been thinking of talking to my vet at the pooches upcoming vet appointment (yearly) in August about slowly switching to a raw diet. I know that it will entail a LOT of learning, reading, and research...and just wondering where a good "start" would be? I know there is a...
