teeth cleaning

I just had my dog's teeth cleaned at the vet. He recommened a drinking water additive to fight plaque buildup. I add a teaspoon to the water bowl each day. Has anyone had any luck with this type of product?

Like anything else, they vary from brand to brand. I used Oxy Fresh's Oral Pet Solution in our old dog's water and was very happy with it.

I forget the brand, but we get it at the vet and it seems to work well. Then again all of my dogs have gotten their teeth brush at least three times a week if not every day.

Nolvasan makes a dental rinse. Could that be it?

I'll have to check when I get home. :)

We also have this like rinse you put in the dogs mouth with a little angled tube...never used it and so far haven't had to.

Check the ingredients. I read somewhere that the CET chews have xylitol in them. Xylitol is highly poisonous to dogs. I can't image the water aditive having it, but it won't hurt to look.

I checked the list of ingredients, xylitol is third on the list. I will try to find oxy fresh.

contact your vet and get your money back and warn them to be more careful with your pets life. Tell them they have to start paying attention to the ingredients of things they sell in their office. This is the second time I have heard that this same stuff is being sold at a vets office. I guess if they can sell the inferior dog foods that are unhealthy why not this stuff that has poison in it.
