Dockdogs (BlackLabbie)

First things first, The Kennel Shop in Scarborough, ME did a stellar job hosting the Dockdogs! What a great weekend! We had such a fun time!

We ended up staying at a Motel 6 (the only place we could find that allowed pets at a reasonable rate) for one night. How funny is this: a dog show and an agility trial was going on during the same time as the Dockdogs in the same area so the hotel was jam packed with dogs!

I entered Apollo in 2 waves on Sunday (6/27) at 10am and 12pm. He placed 3rd in the "Big Air" competition for the Junior Class and had a PB of 13ft 1inch....he crawled 3/4 the dock on that one, if he used the entire 40ft I think he could've done way better!

His second wave didn't go as well as the first- he crawled behind me the entire length of the dock and I didn't even know it! Little cheater Wink And before I knew it he popped off the dock! He did that twice! But, we had a fun time! He came in 7th in that wave.

Our club did amazing!! 4 out of the 8 finalists were Seacoast Dockdogs, I believe. How awesome is that?!

While we were in Maine we did some shopping in Freeport.....love LL Bean! Jeremy LOVED Cabela's in Scarborough. He also got a lobster roll that he thoroughly enjoyed. Apollo even got his own Maine moose stuffed animal that he loves- he's been carrying it around the house all day!

Hey Stephanie, a little OT, but somebody on the Lab board was there with their 2 Labs. A spectator actually told him his one Lab must be for sale because it was in a cage! LOL

Hooray Apollo!! Rock on, kiddo!!

One woman in my training outfit said she might go w/her Labs. I told her to look for you if she went, but I suspect there were just a lot of people and dogs to try to identify who was whom.

So glad you had fun learning and jumping.

OMG- Someone came up to my DH who was w/ Apollo while Apollo was in his crate and asked how much we wanted for our dog!

Hooked is an understatement, lol. We really had so much fun, and everyone was so nice. We're learning as we go, but I'm really enjoying it. My DH is hooked, too!

So you guys inspired me to look for clubs around the new house and I found one only 90mins away. Kes gets to try out dock diving at a practice at the club's home dock on the 10th of this month! Big Smile

Maybe it was the same person. That's how the person on the Lab board was approached- they were asked how much they wanted for the dog they were holding. When they said he wasn't for sale, they were asked, "Well, how about that one? It's obviously for sale because it's in a cage." Makes me wonder if that's what they thought the event was about.

Yay! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do- I think it's alot of fun. There are a ton of herders in our club, and 1 bc especially really flies.
