Feeding dog hotdog?
I ran out of dog food tonight so I supplemented my dogs kibble with a hotdog. It was actually a turkey frank with no fat. Is this ok for her? I thought I heard about people using them for training but when I looked things up just now it seems like lots of people are saying it can give them pancreatitis...

Seriously!! Maze went 2 weeks without scratching. But these past 3 weeks, Maze has been scratching and chewing almost none stop. The only new things in her diet are: Snap peas, Fish oil pills, Vit E, CoQ10, Hawthorn Berry powder... Suggestions?

Lemon my 8 week old little boy kitty...
I don't want to overfeed him, so I restrict his food. Total of 1 tsp. wet food 2x daily and dry food. A small handful, I let him eat a few bites and then take it away. In a couple hours I do the same routine. Of course I'm gone all day so all he gets is his 1/2 tsp. of wet. Is he like a toy breed...

Greta has got it!
I am so proud of my little girl and have to brag! She is doing so wonderful on her SAR, she has been airscenting wonderfully. Her trainer said just let the tracking come naturally and she has picked that up when needed. She started on her cadever work, and the second day she hits on the scent, immediately...

Is he too thin?
Not sure if this goes here or Health... I've noticed I can see Finn's backbone when he is sitting or running around and even laying down. It seems to be more visible than it should be. Around his ribs seems fine. I can't usually see his ribs and I can feel them when I touch him. He is...

akc obedience trials
So I'm headed to a show n go on Sunday with Kes just to see what we can do in obedience without really having spent time working on anything formally. It has been ages since I looked at how trials in obedience are structured, so I was wondering if anyone could give me a quick summary of the exercises...

Abady Dog food, need an expert's input.
I was suggesting a kibble (Orijen) to one of my customers' who's currently using Abady Lamb and Rice Formula but she praises the stuff like it was the best thing since sliced bread. I read the ingredients and although I liked that it didn't contain much plant matter I didn't like that...

A quick review on Preference
I've been feeding The Honest Kitchen's Preference for a few days now and thought I'd give a little update on how the 3 girls are doing and how I like feeding it- or otherwise. I got this big idea to feed preference because I got to partake in adding my own ingredients to the food, what...

What's closest to Blue?
Given this news, http://www.petconnection.com/blog/2010/09/08/blue-buffalo-dog-food-may-be-linked-to-serious-illness/ I'm looking to switch Luke off of Blue. He's having no problems, I don't even know for sure that he is eating chicken because I switch between the flavors. Still, I'd...

Well I don't need to buy dog food for the next month
For Sandy. A friend dropped off some deer and moose meat today and he's promised some fresh rabbit meat. WEE! On top of that, I still have chicken wings, turkey necks, beef kidneys, ground beef and beef heart for Maze. I'm gonna try and add some fresh meat to Maze diet but she doesn't like...

Salmon Oil?
I give Tootsie her salmon oil and vit e every am meal. My question is: If I give her a little bit of sardine, like half of one, with her pm meal is it gonna cause problems?

Echo running off- ignore? How long?
I remember seeing on here a while ago when a dog acted really goofy and wouldn't obey to just ignore the dog for a day or more, I can't recall. Echo will take every chance she gets to take off and run- she won't come when called and it's not very safe running scoot loops across a road...

Another food mistake.
It's another notch in the nutrition disaster belt: A few years ago, I tried Volhard's NDF on my 2 bichons. Their coats went downhill, their skin turned red and they scratched violently. I was assured it was an "imbalance" correcting itself and to wait it out. I waited until they...

We have a stand!!
I have been trying and giving up and trying again on teaching Finn the stand in rally. I get really frustrated with it and give up very quickly. My trainer finally pushed me enough that I wanted to finally get it. After about three days we have a stand! He really gets it. Before he thought he was supposed...

rw-Tractor Supply Co. sale
ours at least, is having a Labor Day deal thru this weekend, with Diamond Nats L/R 40lbs for $26.99. This is a GREAT deal and I'm headed over there today to pick up a couple bags. They also had the 30lbs bag of Blue Adult for $42.99. Mine carries TOTW but no sale prices were printed in the...

Lower calcium puppy food
Goose's bloodwork came back with higher calcium and phosphorous levels, so she's to be switched to a food with a lower level to see if that helps. Her food has a 1.5% calcium level, which isn't horrid, but we need lower. I see that Blue's large breed puppy food is 1.2% but it seems a...

Wellness?
So I picked up a bag of Wellness today at petsmart. It was a much larger bag, and a lower price (per quantity) than the Blue I've been feeding (which is getting smaller and more expensive everytime I need food!) What's our opinions of Wellness? I got the Super5Mix, Complete Health - Whitefish...

Another food question
Im so frustrated right now, I have no idea what to feed my dog. He has a very sensitive stomach and is allergic to grain(makes him a very itchy boy). He is on Natural Balance limited ingredient. and I add can natural balance to his food, its the only way he will eat it. His poop is so watery on this...

Limited Ingredient Foods
I'm curious. Aside from severe allergies, and trying to rule out said allergies, what is the benefit of Limited Ingredient foods? The research I've done into Raw feeding, prey model, grain free, no veggies, just meat, says variety is best. The reasoning behind this seems to be that, dogs need...
