We have a stand!!

    We have a stand!!

I have been trying and giving up  and trying again on teaching Finn the stand in rally.  I get really frustrated with it and give up very quickly.  My trainer finally pushed me enough that I wanted to finally get it.  After about three days we have a stand!  He really gets it.  Before he thought he was supposed to target my hand or jump up or some other strange thing, but now I think he truly understands what I want.  While I was training this he seemed to get almost excited with it.  He was like talking to me while we were training, grumbling and whining...not sure where all that came from, maybe excitement?  He is such a fast learner when his teacher buckles down and really teaches things so he can understand them properly!  Next, I have to see if I can keep him in a stand and walk away.  I've started training this already and it shouldn't take long before we have it!

Anyway here are a couple of videos of him doing his stuff!

Can I send you Maze?? Lol! We haven't full grasped the Stand yet. Then again we're just playing around right now with different commands.

GeorgAnne, he might even be faster than Sequoyah;-)  Nice job!

    Thanks guys!

I am very excited that we finally have it.  We are doing an APDT trial in November and he may need the stand for that so I feel much better knowing we have it.  My trainer would prefer it if only the back legs pop up and the front legs stay still.   Clearly Finn is moving his front legs, but I don't think that will really be a problem, he's still standing!

Finn looks great and so happy!!

Jackson's bags are packed whenever you're ready to teach him 'stand'!! We've been trying for WEEKS and he still just thinks it's 'target'. So I have to move fast to make it look like a stand...

Great job!!!  Love that happy tail. :)

He looks great!  Generally I agree with the trainer, that the back legs should pop up, but he does not walk forward into the stand so I think it looks OK the way it is.  With "long" breeds like a German Shepherd, it looks bad to walk into a stand or rock back into a sit (they should tuck their butts) but his position relative to you is very accurate.

Oh good!  I'm glad it looks ok.  My trainer hasn't seen it yet, as our class was cancelled last night due to the horrid heat.  So she will see it next week and just have to be ok with it, Stick out tongue because by then he will have it even more solidly than he does now with me hopefully being able to move away from him.

And ladies, I am waiting for Maze and Jackson!

I think it looks just fine!  Honor has a slight *pop* to the front of her stand as well, and none of the rally judges we've shown under have ever said anything (or have we lost points).

Great training!  I'm actually about to start teaching Nike to stand, hopefully he's as pumped up about it as Finn is!

Maze is stuck in customs due to lack of papers. LOL

And it seems I'm gonna have to teach Maze rally by myself. The trainer that held the classes is getting out of dog training.. Hmmmm
