    Another food question

Im so frustrated right now, I have no idea what to feed my dog. He has a very sensitive stomach and is allergic to grain(makes him a very itchy boy).  He is on Natural Balance limited ingredient. and I add can natural balance to his food, its the only way he will eat it.  His poop is so watery on this and I want to change him to something else. I tried TOTW, not good for him, really bad diarrhea.  He is already a picky eater so I really dont want to keep changing his food but I dont think its healthy that he is having soft stool on Natural Balance. Should I keep on looking for a new food? Any suggestions Im at lost right now. Any advice would be much appreciated.

A couple of questions- How long has he been on the LID?  Did you just recently switch varities?  It could be that he was either switched to the LID too quickly, or, if you switched from one variety to another, that was done too quickly.  Another thought is the canned food- I'm assuming it's the LID, too.  He may be getting too much of it, or simply just too much food.  If he's been on LID and that variety for awhile, I'd try reducing the amount he gets in each meal.  I know my Caleb will get loose stool if he over eats.  And TOTW gave him stool that looked like water, even after a slow switch.

Have you had fecals done to rule out other possible causes of the diarrhea/loose stools (giardia, coccidia, etc.)?

He has been on L.I.D for about 4 weeks. He stopped eating it after he got sick, so thats why I have been adding the canned L.I.D.  I never thought that I could be overfeeding me, thats something to think about. He is 6 months old and I feed him a 1/3 cup of dry then I add about 4 or 5 heaping tablespoons of canned twice daily. When I first got him he was sick for about 2 weeks until we figured out that he had coccidia. He was on 2 rounds of meds because after the first round he was still sick. He was tested for giardia also but nothing came up.

I'd try cutting back the canned food, a bit, and see if it helps.

How much does he weigh? My 17 pounder only got a 1/4 cup, twice a day, when I was adding canned food. You might try cutting it back a little in the canned food department - that's a LOT of canned food if he's still having digestive issues. You can mix 1-ish tbsp with enough warm water to make 'gravy' and they usually don't even notice!

He weighs 21 pounds. I will cut back on the amount of canned food I use. Thanks
