Wellness?

    Wellness?

So I picked up a bag of Wellness today at petsmart. It was a much larger bag, and a lower price (per quantity) than the Blue I've been feeding (which is getting smaller and more expensive everytime I need food!)

What's our opinions of Wellness? I got the Super5Mix, Complete Health - Whitefish and Sweet Tater. (Benny did not do well on the last food I tried with chicken, so I chose fish)

I have not opened the bag yet... but I'm thinking this may be our new food for a while....

My neighbor feeds Wellness Senior for her oldest and Wellness Complete for her youngest. They are doing amazing on it. Her senior has tummy problems and so far as no issue on this food.

Thanks! We're going to give it a shot..... *fingers crossed* that Benny tolerates this well (he did awful on EVO)

My neighbor tried Evo after seeing what it did for Maze. Her poor guy had cannon butt for a while. It was just to rich for him.

    Good luck with Benny!

Benny just got REALLY itchy, and started ripping out his hair (chicken allergy, anyone?!).

I saw a HUGE decline in coat quality on both boys... they are back to their shiny selves now though, so hopefully it'll stay that way!

    Thanks Amber!

No worries. Just glad I could be of some help. It doesn't happen often for me. Lol. Smile

I've fed my King Charles Cavalier the Healthy Weight mixed with adult Healthy 5 chicken for 2 years and she is fine.  I also put a spoonful of the canned Wellness Stew on the side so she likes the smell of the food.  She isn't overweight but the Healthy Weight says it is for couch potato dogs and she is that.

I just found your other post about protein in the urine -- Wellness has a reputation for being NOT easy on the kidneys (and causing kidney problems in some dogs).

YOu might want to switch away from Wellness.

What are some dog foods that are not prone to protein in the urine?  What foods other than high protein cause problems with the urine?  I feed her Wellness because the percentage of protein and fat are not as high as some other foods.

The latest report from the lab is that she has E-coli in her urine.  The vet basically said all female dogs are susceptible to this, but he put her on another 10 days of a different antibiotic that is supposed to wipe out E-coli in urine.  I forget the name of the antibiotic.
