Lower calcium puppy food

    Lower calcium puppy food

Goose's bloodwork came back with higher calcium and phosphorous  levels, so she's to be switched to a food with a lower level to see if that helps.  Her food has a 1.5% calcium level, which isn't horrid, but we need lower.  I see that Blue's large breed puppy food is 1.2% but it seems a lot of dogs are getting digestive upsets from it lately.  Locally I can get what they carry at Petco, plus the feed store (feed store carries Natural Balance, TOTW, Canidae, Merrick, Canine Caviar and the like.  No Innova or Eagle Pack.

    Any suggestions?

Just off the top of my head-----Castor and Pollux Ultramix makes a nice puppy food----somewhere around 1.0 Calcium and .90 Phosphorus, also Avoderm Puppy is around 1.10 Calcium and .80 Phosphorus.  I think both can be found at Petco-----I know that my Whole Foods also carries the C&P.

Another quick thought----Are you able to find Grandma Lucy's?  The formulas are all around 1.0 Calcium and somewhere between .40-.50 Phosphorus----often recommended for dogs with kidney issues due to it's low phosphorus content.  Looks and smells delicious, too.
