T-Bone's going to the vet for his dermatitis.
T-Bone definitely has flea allergy dermatitis and I believe secondary folliculitis. It's driving us insane and I can only imagine how he feels. I gave him a second treatment of advantage two days ago and tonight I flea combed him and got about 20 of the suckers off, still. We have Skin So Soft/water...

Canine thyroid cancer Update June 8 Biopsy results
Finally got the results on the biopsy. It was inconclusive. Wasn't for sure benign and wasn't for sure cancer. Good news though is that they saw clean margins all the way around, just as the surgeon thought. So benign or not, looks like he got it all and so we are happy with that. So now it is...

IMHA: Comparision of azathioprine + prednisolone protocols with pred...
For those unfamiliar with science journalese, this study compares prednisolone AND azathiprine to those treated with prednisolone only. Both are commonly used to treat IMHA. This study found no difference. The full paper is free at the link below. http://www.biomedcentral.com/1746-6148/7/15 Lack of evidence...

PNW Folks - Heartworm and Flea treatments
For those of you living in the PNW and/or Salem, OR area, what is your experience with fleas, ticks and heartworms out here? The vet we selected doesn't carry Interceptor in their office, only Iverhart, which I won't use. I am having a devil of a time getting them to verify my purchase through...

Canella's allergies are getting worst...
This is the 24 month old golden. I am feeding her 'wellness', keeping her flea free, putting boiled chicken on as a topping, keeping treats with anything artificial or wheat, corn based away. We are in one of the highest pollen years on record here in Northern Ca and it doesn't seem like...

Belly flab?
My almost 6 year old pit bull mix seems to have a sagging belly. It wasn't this way before. It is in the hind area. I know she needs to lose a little weight. So I have her on a special diet but the belly still sags. I have never seen this on another dog unless they had puppies. She has never had...

Urinary incontinence
Maggie is 11, mixed breed, has started to leak pee when she's resting on the porch, or wherever. Then, she starts licking the floor, this goes on a lot, I,m wondering what can be done for this? She's really a hyper dog, but is slowing down now with age. I even dread taking her to vet, because...

Pugsley Is Walking Now
I posted here back in January about my King Charles Spaniel Dachshund mix having had a slipped disc and surgery. At the time he couldn't even pee by himself, much less walk. It has been a long, sometimes frightening trying journey, but thought I would come here and let you all know Pugsley is walking...

Strange growth on tooth
Hey all, It's been a while since I posted on here, but I am a little puzzled and no matter how much I search google I can't even find anything remotely similiar. A couple months back, my fiance and I noticed that Maddi had broken a molar, probably from chewing on a bone. The broken tooth,...

Help with choosing a flea preventative?
Hi guys, I am looking for a really heavy duty flea preventative for my boys (Royce is too young but when he's older) because T-Bone is highly allergic to fleas. We've been fighting it since the weather warmed up, UGH. I love that we didn't have them up north really at all. Not so much...

HW+ and possibly pregnant (what to do?)
So Ada is confirmed HW+. We found her in heat 3 weeks ago. She finished her heat up about 2 weeks ago. No idea what happened to her before we found her. The vet is giving us a $400 estimate for HW treatment and has said (and I've heard) that being put under can be harder on HW+ dogs. Vet says...

Remembering Our Dear Sasha
I just wanted to say that after we lost our beloved Sasha a few months ago (shepherd/husky mix we adopted from the pound 15 years ago), we came upon this company that makes the most beautiful, emotional montage memorial videos about pets (amongst other things). We gave it a try, and I can only tell you...
