Tinkerbell update (Callie)

    Tinkerbell update (Callie)

I'd called my TCVM vet's office back -- Tink's been showing some sort of a little tick, quirk, wince, odd behavior for a while and I've referred to it in a couple of posts (the one on Finn and a couple of times in mindless chat).  We took her to get adjusted (my TCVM vet is also a good chiropractor) and she was pretty badly in need of adjustment but the little facial tick (for lack of a better word) hasn't departed.  It seems to go away for a couple of days and then it's BACK.

It's always during times of great concentration or thot -- Tink's an interesting dog.  There's some pent-up energy there, but she's an expert at her own little work-arounds.  Like at Give Kids the World -- when she knows she WANTS to jump up too much she'll simply lay down flat on the ground rather than just "sitting" to be petted cos SHE Knows she doesn't jump up from that position as easy.  She's a smart little gal for a pug (we were NOT expecting a rocket scientist when we adopted a pug -- cute? yeah ... but I really wasn't expecting a dog pretty darned good at problem solving).

We've tried repeatedly to get a video and can't.  She doesn't like pictures ANYWAY and this happens too fast.  She gets too self-conscious if I try to set there with a camera and 'watch' her.

And .. I'm trying to watch this closely cos pugs ARE prone to seizures and this is a little toooooooooooo close to something like that.

    SO ....

I called the TCVM vet and 'splained  that it's still not gone, and is regularly occurring again ... so she's ordered a special herb blend for her that she wants her to take ONE BOTTLE of.  This is not anything I've used before and she's specifically calling this "hypertension" -- so that leads me to question if we're gonna need to get her blood pressure taken.  (that's not easy on a dog in case you've never done it!!).

so we'll get this stuff Tuesday hopefully and I'll update when I know something.  A couple of people asked me specifically to "update" on this so I figured this was a good time to do that -- and I hadn't really "splained" it before anyway.

She's not feeling bad -- she's not overly active right now, but definitely not hurting.  She turned 3 in February (which was just before we lost Billy) which is a milestone for a pug -- they DO settle a great deal but I don't want to mistake "settle" for "something's amiss".

Any anyway - it was abundantly clear last night when David er ... sorta ... kinda ... inadvertently (*raised eyebrow*) back-kicked Sucky Pony nearly into next week that Tinkerbell the Pug STILL knows how to give serious stink eye!! I wish I'd gotta picture of THAT!  And she didn't even move her lips when she gave David heck for THAT one!!

    Alltogether now "Pooooooooooooooooor Sucky Pon-neeeeeeeeeee"

(Did I mention said husband did actually live thru the ordeal even tho chastised by the pug for his rough handling of *her* favorite toy?)

I hope this herbal concoction helps Tink and gives you a little peace. LOL, at David and Suckee Pony. The visual is priceless! Big Smile

    It was pretty danged funny.

The Chinese herbs tend to be stronger than anything we have -- Kee Shu was on an herb that was virtually identical to phenobarbitol for her seizures, but with zero side effects.  It's pretty amazing what I've seen stuff do --

Oh Tink!  Where's the fairy dust when we need it?  I sure hopw you get over it real quick!

You're far too young for these things to be happening!  Wink

Hmm, suppose this is part of whatever it is that's happening???  I'm not sure what to think.  I'm sure you've had all the bloodwork possible done for her right.

I hope and pray the herbs work for her and makes things better.

Lots of prayers, thoughts and HUGS!

I hope the new herb blend helps. TInk, now you gotta let Mom take a video if she needs to :-)

No bloodwork *yet* because we just did some a bit ago and right now this is in the beginning stages of even deciding if it IS anything at all 'bad'.

You know when you play "gotcha" (kind of suddenly lunging at a dog to pretend you're gonna 'get' them and SOME dogs think it's a grand game and will sort of twitch their head a bit like THEY are gonna almost lunge?  That itty bitty little "twitch" is what we're seeing -- and Tink LOVES that game so for the longest time I was thinking she was 'playing' .... but then I began seeing it when she "wanted" something that she thinks she can't have (like "I want to go out NOW because I **WANT** to bark at that neighbor dog!!!!!!" or "I WANT to get up behind Dad's knees NOW ... but he's too stretched out!!" ....

This is just another "me" thing (altho David's concerned too) that 99.99999% of the world would not even notice.  But ... after our history with Kee Shu (which we took WAY too long to respond to because we were convinced it was behavioral for the longest time) we're trying to be proactive.

The holistic vet wanted to try the chiro first (and it was a darned logical thot and she WAS pretty mis-aligned -- she's running straighter now!!), but this lady is super experienced and I'm gonna let her lead for a while here.

In late June we have to have full thyroid/super chem panels run on both dogs, as well as titers done for both (because we do that every year then for pet therapy) so I'd rather wait if I can.  If Dr. D was wanting to do any harsh drugs I'd fur sure want to do bloodwork.

The other thing out there is I'm having to have some serious yard work done in the back yard which will necessitate both spray pesticides AND fertilizer and I *KNOW* Miz Tinkis gonna react to those liver-wise, so that's the other reason why I'm wanting to wait til the end of June to do bloodwork.  If we pulled bloodwork today I*KNOW* her liver values would be skewed because she reacts to stuff like that way too danged much. But your point is **extremely** well taken.  I'm  a bit skeptical that it is goiing to show on bloodwork because it's so incredibly intermittent.
