Murphy Blog
Well, as you might be able to tell from my other post, I probably should consider blogging about Ellie, too. Yes, Ellie--my only dog for 2.5 years, until Murphy nearly 6 months ago--has crystals/sand in her urine and I will be taking in more for additional testing. Everything she does is a sign to me...

Comparison of Heartworm Preventatives (re: Safety)
Before I throw my totally unused package of Revolution away - which I will gladly do if it's truly dangerous, I wanted to know if this makes sense. Ellie's urine isn't acidic enough
I'm hoping Callie will read this and let me know what she knows. She's a walking dog encyclopedia! Ellie's urine isn't ph-balanced enough. (No UTI, just crystals.) They want to put her on Science Diet for this sort of thing to adjust that. Or, maybe she'll be on it forever...

Hematoma in ear
Has anyone here had to deal with a hematoma in your dog's ear? There is a puffy swelling in Jack's right ear, about an inch around, that I'm pretty sure is a hematoma. We have a vet appointment tomorrow. From what I've read, the most common treatment is surgery, which I'm not thrilled...

Washing close to the ears on floppy eared dogs?
I've been giving Link baths, but generally staying away from his head except for on the top. I have noticed that the hair right under his ears is getting a little greasy, and wonder what the best way would be to clean this hair. I'm thinking that maybe taking a damp wash cloth with a little bit...
