Hematoma in ear

My Irish had a HUGE one .  They have such long ears and it was so full of blood and heavy he walked with his head tilted.  My son's lab mix, his  ears weren't that big, but looked like he had golf balls in his ear both times it happed.

Thanks everyone for the advice. Jack's ear is much better. It's almost completely gone down by itself, and it hasn't bothered him at all. I'm glad we took a more conservative approach - I'll keep a close eye on it and hopefully we won't see a reoccurrence.

Great news!   Good for Jack, glad he didn't have to go thru the surgery and all the drugs associated with it.

I am glad he didn't have to have surgery.  I wish Boots's would have gone away with surgery, but was big, his ear was so heavy he walked with his head tilted and I knew it had to be so very uncomfortable for him.  The draining didn't work for his huge ear.  But i do say, always avoid surgery if you can.
