Washing close to the ears on floppy eared dogs?

I've been giving Link baths, but generally staying away from his head except for on the top. I have noticed that the hair right under his ears is getting a little greasy, and wonder what the best way would be to clean this hair. I'm thinking that maybe taking a damp wash cloth with a little bit of soap to it, and then rinsing off using a wash cloth would be the best way. Any opinions?

I think you can wash your dog's head when giving him a bath. Just put cotton in the ears to prevent water from going into them, then hold the flaps down if necessary whenever you're putting water over his head. A damp washcloth would also be fine, but cotton in the ears helps for me (that is how a groomer/breeder showed me how to do it, for my breed at least).

I wash dogs every day.... Head and all. I clean their ears, after I'm done, with something drying. At work, we use alcohol based stuff. Here, I have something from the vet, or I use the blue ear stuff. My dogs rarely have their ears bother them. Emma's do from time to time, but I really think it's allergy stuff. The vet agrees.

Cotton balls are important in floppy ear bathing. Make sure the cotton is firmly in place and then u can just wash his head like you would the rest of the body. [

I like Kelco Zap Ear for cleaning the ear canal. For the fur outside the ear canal, I put cotton balls in the dogs' ears to keep the water out and bathe with a mild dog shampoo.

You could try a rinseless shampoo, too. You just spray or sponge it on and towel it off and it cleans without having to rinse or spray water anywhere the head.
