How do I intensify color on my dog?

Are there supplements?  Or type of shampoo?  I want to intensify his black and whiten his white.

I am not 100% sure, but I think petsilk has something like that.

try any of the following companies via their websites.  Google will get you there:

    Cherrybrook
Petedge (used to be new england seruem)
    Jeffers
    Plush Puppy
    JB Supplies

You could also try a google search with : color intensifying, shampoo, dog

It would probably be reallly hard to use a black color shampoo on the dog and prevent it from getting it on the white parts of the coat- which would really stain!
I'd stay away from colored shampoos.

You could use a clarifying shampoo every fourth bath to remove excess buildup and let the natural colors shine through.  Keep him out of the sun/ use spray with sunscreen so his black hair doesn't get bleached out.

Plush Puppy makes a product called "pixie dust" which makes the dog's coat shimmer and there are many different products you can use to enhance shine- I think Vellus skin cream is one of the absolute best.

Stacey--Can I get Pixie Dust anywhere except online??  Also, is it going to get glitter everywhere??

My understanding is that a black on black shampoo will not turn white parts of the coat black, and vice versa. [sm=wink.gif]

Both of these product lines contain color clarifying products. Both companies come highly recommended to me, although I have not as yet tried them.

Plush Puppy is only sold through distributors- no stores...you can sometimes get it at dog shows if there's a rep there.

Their shampoos and sprays smell SO good- I've tried Crown Royale, Chris Christenson, Petsilk, Vellus, etc.  Plush Puppy beats them all- it's worth paying a little extra for.

The pixie dust won't get glitter everywhere- it's a very fine powder, like baby powder in texture, and it gives a subtle sparkle that can be seen best under bright light- nothing too dramatic or obvious, though.

As far as the color shampoos:
I can't imagine putting a black enhancing color shampoo on a white dog and not getting stains- maybe a shampoo that is sold as a "color enhancer" but is really only a clarifier with no actual color- okay...maybe.  That's what I suggested- a clarifier.

But, a shampoo with actual black in it will stain a white dog- I use black malva by Aveda on my own hair- all natural, no dye, just natural pigment. It stains the shower walls black!

Okay, I found the answer on the Chris C site!!:
    "
Black On Black is for use on black canine coats to deep multi colored breeds such as mahoganies to dark brindles' and dark chocolates.  Will not discolor mahogany and dark tan markings.  If using on a tri-colored coat apply White On White in the white areas first then go in with Black On Black in the black areas, if you accidentally spill Black On Black into the white areas do not be concerned since you already have the white areas suds up with White On White. "

SO, it could stain, but to prevent that, you just saturate the white area first...

You can also check out the Kelco shampoos, they are all natural and have coat inhancers.
