    Alley UPdate/Bootcamp

Okay we took Alley to the Holistic vet and I sent her all your information that all of you had sent me for her to review before I got there. Everything from your suggestions to drugs to Cold River Vet clinic...

I do think she is a brillant vet...Im so intuned to everything she is saying and fully agree.

We meaning me and hubby need to work on Alleys personallity.... I WANT CESAR MILLAN PLEASE to fix me...LOL
Retraining is what we going to be working on...

Alley has alot of issue and when her enviorment changes is when her skin goes haywire. Like when I had my surgery a month ago.... everything changed cause I was down and hubby was the caregiver to them and the schedule changed.

Anyway................................. we are going to start in that direction. She has alot of herbs she would LOVE to try on Alley but told me she simply doesn't feel brave enough to even attempt to try anything on her cause she reacts so.......

So we are going to start bootcamp... walks with me only... not as a group with the other dogs. She will have to walk behind me and mind me. No more snapping all the dogs on the butt as they go out the door and she stays in... she will be leashed standing next to me and no more mis-behaving or curling her lip or being toy agreesive with the others.

I guess Im going to give the little Scottie poop more structure around here and will see how her skin starts to react. We talked alot about owning alot of dogs. I own 5 and when I got so busy with Rescue work I really had no time to train anymore. I was so darn busy caring for the needy dogs. Even when I took Alley to obiedence class she freaked and I never continued on. She feels I need one on one so gave me a name of a lady to come to the house and work with us rather than a class.

Im going to get her off Rabbit cause the cost for 12 rabbits is alot of money...Im going to switch to Pork. Im sure my Rabbit broker will be miss me alot...he probably had a nice stash started for a lovely vacation from all my Rabbit purchases...LOL

Thanks to you guys for all your suggestions.... she checked each one out and none of them would work for Alley. She is truly up on all of what I sent and wasn't lost for words.

This won't completely fix her problems...but we hope it will help.

It is great that you like your holistic vet so much. What a fascinating and possibly brilliant idea; that Alley's skin problems could be at least partly due to her personality and her reaction to changes around her. Stress causes illnesses in people like shingles and ulcers, so perhaps your vet is on to something. I know Alley is a rescue dog and they often suffer from anxiety. It sounds like she is also a little high strung from your description, so perhaps the structure and the training will help the skin problems ; I sure hope it does.

I know the situation Alley came from.... BAD... I got her at 3 months old but behavior can be a gentic thing.... Her mother is a real peel....LOL We got her a great home but she is Devil Dog of the house....
I watch Alley react to things going on around her and I know it has alot to do with her skin problems.

I'll keep you posted on this handful......

Interesting story about how stress can affect them.  On the k9kitchen website I belong to, there was a dog who started throwing up every evening at about the same time.  They hadn't changed the food or anything else and couldn't figure it out.  They finally limited the dog to one room and set up a webcam.  About 3 or 4 that afternoon the boy who lives next door came home from school and would bounce his ball off the side of the house where the dog lived.  This would go on for a very long time.  When it did, the dog started frantically licking the floor and drinking copious amounts of water and then would throw up.  The dog owner spoke to the neighbor who said her son did this everyday but would stop immediately.  Problem was solved [:)].  I'm not sure if I've described that perfectly, but you can get the idea.
