How long is too long? Help!

Nutrition & Exercise
Ok...so I am desperately TRYING to get my puppy to eat scheduled meals, and stick to one food, lol. When I switched from the EVO to the TO wild and natural, he would pick out all the wild and natural and leave the EVO (so I thought...yay, he likes it better). So now I am completely switched over to the...

Introducing dogs to new baby!
Posted to:
Training & Behavior
Hello all, Just a quick question. I have two Shih Tzus who have been my babies (and I mean spoiled) for the passed 3 years. Now, I am due to give birth in 4 short weeks. These dogs do not have an aggressive bone in their bodies, and have been exposed to the pokes and pulls of young children quite a...

Do dogs understand when they've eaten something they shouldn't have
Posted to:
Training & Behavior
Over the weekend we gave Boomer a new toy. As per usual he destroyed it pretty quickly. There was some hard plastic on this toy and I guess he ate some of it. This morning when I woke up I found a peice of this plastic in his crate. He must have thrown it up during the night. Is it possible that dogs...

Allergy question

Forgive my ignorance but before now allergies aren't something I've been at all familiar with! Can an inhalant allergy like to some pollen or something....cause a headache or feeling of pressure in your face? In the absence of sneezing or watery eyes? I've had a headache for a couple...

Odd Discovery

I just discovered that my dog loves asparagus. We had some for supper for the first time since Sierra's been around (a long time!) so I gave her a piece. She was unsure of it at first and took a LONG time to chew, but once she swallowed it, she started following me around for more! And now she...

Anti-neutering
Posted to:
Health & Grooming
There was a discussion on another board about neutering a few dogs to control their male-male issues (these are hunting dogs, kept in a group, kept intact until they are adults and their hunting ability is seen). Someone said that we shouldn't just neuter our dogs for no reason, blah blah blah and...

Very Worried! Dropped Baby Boy off at vet this morning.

We had our little guy neutered last thursday. He seemed totally fine Friday and Saturday. Sunday came he wasn't eating, but seemed fine. This morning however, he threw up bile 3 times. I didn't want to take a chance so I brought him in. He wasn't too happy to say the least. The vet said it...

Reintroducing a dog to the pack
Posted to:
Training & Behavior
I have a rescue dog, Gandolf, now about 3 1/2 years old, male, german shepherd mix. He is dog aggressive and has shown aggression to humans (he has nipped at several house guests, and bit a neighbor in an electric wheelchair who was passing by in the alley). We have done obediance training with him,...

We're Keeping Him
Posted to:

I had started a lengthy post here about our second hand dog, the problems we were facing and how I didn't see a way we could possibly keep him. Well, we are going to keep him and it's mainly because I got massively pissed off at some other rehoming of dogs his previous owner did and further...
