• rwbeagles Posted : 4/18/2006 9:43:07 PM I would bet you money, that dog is a Tosa Inu. They are a Japanese fighting breed and NOT for the novice owner. Most have a heavier head but I have seen them look exactly like this dog as well. • rwbeagles Posted : 4/18/2006 10:04:53 PM As usual with the big bully mastiff breeds once the breeding outpaces the ethics the dogs tend to get scrawny lookin!   I watched  a program on Japan on PBS and they covered dog fighting when they discussed the Yakuza organized crime circut there. Apparently it is a big time "hobby' for many big bosses to raise Tosa and bet on the fights. They showed a fight and it was pretty horrible. But the dogs were totally docile with their handlers..quite amazing to see.   The Yakuza's dogs were massive things...but most of those I see at UKC events or on the web in the USA are quite lanky with smaller heads and muzzles. The good thing about Tossa Inus is that they would never fight till the death.
