So, I have been told by my obedience instructor that after what she has seen from Buddy that he needs a rank reduction program. We have been communicating through email since class about this. I asked her if she was speaking of NILIF and let her know that I do some of those things with Buddy, like sit...

more on Molly

her course of Clavamox did nothing other than give her a belly ache....which didn't surprise me as I've had many fosters who couldn't take Clavamox. So I would give her Pepcid AC off/on during the course to help her belly. She's still leaking/licking/drinking tons. But her urinalysis...

Clicker Beware
Posted to: Training & Behavior
A friend just brought this to my attention, so I'm throwing it out there for your comments. Often, we think of clicker trainers as always positive, but in reality there are people who use clickers, but are known to also use other techniques. If you Google on "Gary Wilkes" and "bonk"...

Real Lab/GSD mix?
Posted to: Choosing A Dog
Hey! I had a dog growing up and we were told by the people we bought her from that she was Lab/GSD mix but I've always doubted the GSD part because I thought she would be larger. She only weighed about 40-50 pounds, she was very petite and had short legs. Here are some pics of her..sorry they are...

Public transportation poll
Posted to: News & Entertainment
With all the other environmentally conscious threads I thought I’d take a poll… is public transportation a feasible option for you? For me it isn’t. I would have to drive several miles to leave my car at a ghetto gas station to get on the bus for an hour to travel the other several...

I was a clicker ninja!
Posted to: Training & Behavior
I was at PetCo today picking up a couple things and while in line I noticed a "Clicker Training" magazine on their magazine rack. Picked it up, leafed through it while waiting, then put it back on the rack....but on the top shelf, at eye-level, and covering up the Designer Dogs magazine. ...

Clicking for competition??
Posted to: Training & Behavior
How do I click for "perfect" heels, downs, stays, and the like? Joy has a really nice loose-leash walk, and I can get her to look at me if I say to watch. Her downs are half-hearted, and she doesn't down from a stand. She sits, then downs. I re-trained her for going to the stand from the...

I love my dog, but...
Posted to: News & Entertainment
I can't take it anymore. Nikita, my 5 yr old shepard mix (female), leaks urine all the time. She's been on Propalin for as long as I can remember, which helps. The problem is that she has urinary tract infections all the time. I think she's up to 10 now. When she has an infection she leaks...

Since the first of the year I have taken Cujo back and forth to the vet several times. He has been swallowing frequently and just not acting like himself. Very low energy. The vet says his upper resp. tract is very moist sounding. He has recieved antibodics twice each time for a week. With some increase...

If I feed too much, does she absorb it?
Posted to: Nutrition & Exercise
I've been increasing Emma's food intake, lately. She's getting lots of exersize (going to the park at least four times a week to run and play with her buddies for an hour or more at a time), and she'd lost a bit of padding. She's been looking like chiseled muscle and bone. Hip bones...

Hi-Def tv question
Posted to: News & Entertainment
We got a new tv last night. We have cable with Hi-def. There are a group of stations listed as hi-def (700 -730). On our cable, channel 2 and channel 704 are CBS. My understanding is that cbs broadcasts in Hi-def during Prime time. -does this mean that the braodcast will be in high def on both channels...
