her course of Clavamox did nothing other than give her a belly ache....which didn't surprise me as I've had many fosters who couldn't take Clavamox.
So I would give her Pepcid AC off/on during the course to help her belly.
She's still leaking/licking/drinking tons. But her urinalysis on Thursday showed little bacteria and her urine was not concentrated (I think....) indicates she's drinking a lot.
Anyway...I have to bring in an early morning sample tomorrow. I had brought in a mid-day one the other day cause DH, despite my asking him not to, took her out in the morning.
If that shows to be not as concentrated as it should then end of the week they'll go in with a needle to get a true sample from her bladder and ship it off for a culture.
Vet is suspecting she's simply getting obsessive about her water intake - although I have been limiting it.
Vet wants the Clavamox to be out of her system before sending off a culture.
So that's where it stands...we've gone back to diapering a dog, arming ourselves with the Green Machine and washing dog bedding on a daily basis. Deja vu!!!!
Anyone ever had a dog get obsessive about drinking water to the point where they leak? My vet suspects this primarily due to her young age. I think that would be weird.

My first thought is diabetes actually.  Polydipsia and polyurea (excessive drinking/urinating) are the first signs of wacky glucose levels.

Cushings can also cause what you are describing, but hopefully it isn't anything that serious.

Mary, we did go through this with Mia.  We adopted her right after her spay by the rescue and she was quite young - 5 months on date of spay.  Had likely not gone through first heat.  At first we thought it was vaginitis and there was SOME discharge.  I think we did a round of Cephpalaxen (sp?) first, but it was just a week, I think.  She would do better after a few days on the antibiotic, but after competing course, she was leaky again and urine was also dilute and she drank TONS of water every time we let her have any access.  Next we thought it had progressed to UTI, but like Molly, little bacterial presence.  Suddenly, her spay incision was infected and we did a course of Clavamox (10 days).  Same result - everything was better during the course and for a few days after, but then the spay infection came back with a vengance and also the leaking.  As a deperation move, we did 6 weeks of the Cephalaxen (again, sp?) as it is cheaper than the Clav and generally better tolerated - they also tried to culture the little blisters at spay site for sensitivity, but results were inconclusive.  This finally did the trick.  It killed whatever was ailing her (seemed to be moving around "down there") and she drank less, leaked no more and stopped with the insane water consumption.

I don't know if this is any real use to you, but seems kinda similar...

Molly was spayed over a year ago...never had a problem.
Vet also mentioned diabetes. Isn't Cushings usually older dogs?

I'm sorry I don't have any ideas or advice, but 1) I thought drinking a ton was a good thing if they were trying to flush out an infection and 2) doesn't limiting water make the obsessiveness worse? Anyway, hope you get it figured out soon!!

I'm trying to rule out that it's simply water intake. I have limited her water since yesterday afternoon. Not denying it just not giving her a lot in her bowl. And making sure she doesn't have access to the toilet [8|]
just got back from lunch. I'm pretty sure I can rule out it being simply water intake as from 8am - noon her crate pad was dripping, she was wet and the wet even went through to the bottom of her crate. AND she still peed when I took her out!
I wanted to rule out that it's simply her over drinking...and think I have

OH Molly! Mare, I feel so bad. I found this on a site maybe it will help. I have no ideas on my own. But I can't imagine a dog becoming obsessive about her water. I hope you get to the bottom of this soon for both of your sakes.
