I was a clicker ninja!

    I was a clicker ninja!

I was at PetCo today picking up a couple things and while in line I noticed a "Clicker Training" magazine on their magazine rack. Picked it up, leafed through it while waiting, then put it back on the rack....but on the top shelf, at eye-level, and covering up the Designer Dogs magazine.

I wanted to hang some of their box clickers all around it too, but I thought that might be overkill. [:D]

I'd have to say that about 9 times out of ten when I'm in line there, the people in front of me will look at the impulse-buy box clicker tub, take a couple out, start clicking them at one another, and if they have a dog clicking it like it's a remote control, then shrug and put them back wondering why the dog didn't sit every time they clicked the clicker at it. Whenever Marlowe's there with me he shoots me these looks like, um, mom, they're doing it wrong and someone here is not getting any treats--someone furry and black with tan points? Do you know anyone like that? Hello? Mom?

I don't blame them! [;)]  Yesterday, at play group, someone asked me about clicker training.  I pulled one out of my pocket and clicked to show her the noise it made and explain....well, I didn't even have to explain.  Suddenly, my two girls, Sioux and Sequoyah, flew over to me. They heard me click and figured they must have done something right. [:D]  They did.  I quickly found some treats...

Well before we thought about getting Scout or training methods, I thought clicker training meant you click to command the behavior.... like 2 clicks for sit, 3 for down, etc. [&:] Oh dear.

Sounds like you've had your first taste of "Guerrilla Marketing," Cressida!

    Cressida,

I am cracking up over your placement of the magazine and your desire to redesign the checkout area!!!  [sm=rofl.gif]  I got the best visual of that and poor Marlow wondering what you are doing with the box of clickers![;)

I can imagine you wearing the black pajamas, mask, bifurcated slippers, and perching on the side of the rack, then disappearing in a puff of smoke.
