Dealing Dogs did anyone see this

There is a thread going right now, about dogs used in schools, etc. being I was accused of baiting, which I really didn't intend. I thought I would start this thread. I haven't seen this it is going to be on again 3/12/07 I think.

I saw it when it first aired...the Beagle folks were most interested. I know the lady who took in most of the Beagles they took.

It was sad to watch and to me points out even more reason why labs need to focus on shelter animals/purpose bred animals thoroughly inspected, and not those bought for them by the bunchers.

Bunchers are a bad bunch...needless to say!

This documentary didn't put me off the idea of dogs in research tho...only spoke to the need for it to be more heavily policed and focused on the treatment of the animals used before and after they reach the labs...not just dogs, because they are cute...but cats, rats, guinea pigs, etc. But as a parent and dog owner I certainly don't want the practice banned or something silly like that.

In the labs and vet schools I've personally visited or worked at the only dogs they had were beagles which had been specifically bred as lab animals.

My sister used to surrender strays from the vet clinic she worked at to the state vet school. I'm almost positive that the actual vet school, not a dealer picked them up, but I'm not sure. I'll have to ask her. I do know that she had a good relationship with the person that picked dogs up. They let her keep a Dane mix that was already on the truck from another shelter and she found it a home.
