Molly wins over yet another
Posted to:

I had marked my current foster, Gillian, as no dogs since she had appeared to be very apprehensive with Molly. She wasn't afraid just not comfortable. Gilly goes home tomorrow...I walk into the computer room to this. Molly does have a way with cats

Dogs need to eat
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
I need an education or if someone can reference a website to me. Can anyone describe the time span and stages a dog goes through when food is not available plentifully. I know this is not an easy subject to stomach (excuse the pun), but all the fosters that come to my home are in need of good meals....

Loose leash walking success (long)
Posted to:
Training & Behavior
OK, maybe it's a little early to be bragging about this (you never know!) but I wanted to let folks know that Juneau finally seems to be getting the whole loose-leash walking thing down - all trained using only a clicker, treats, and a flat collar (never used a choke, harness, or headcollar). This...

We've decided to add to our canine family and decided to adopt from a high kill shelter. The dog we hopefully will get was on the "you know what list"..we we're not going to tell him that. He's an aussie mix. I'll post pics when everything is final!

Ticks already
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
Okay, it's only March and the temp here has been in the 80's! Problem... I put flea and tick meds on all of my dogs but every night, I seem to find a baby tick on Dipstick. I've checked the other dogs over and not one tick. I guess they are attracted to the puppy. Is there anything that I...

[link http://www.padillasheat.com/]http://www.padillasheat.com/[/link] Look at those ears! They might as well not have any.[ ] Maybe its just me but that is not, IMO, what an APBT should look like, at all . They are just breeding to get the largest dogs they can. & They are breeding the dogs...

Summer's Coming, What to Do?
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
We're seriously considering to give Stanley a clip this summer. We can deal w/ shedding, but he's always so hot in the summer that we feel bad. Has anyone done it/do it regularly? Will it grow out by the winter? I ask b/c he was shaved in two small spots & the spots took at least 3 months...

Interesting experience
Posted to:
Training & Behavior
So, out walking J-dog today and we ran into a woman walking a BIG chocolate lab. Great dog, really beautiful - pretty calm, too, despite this white little ball of fluff trying to jump all over him. The lab had on an ENORMOUS prong collar and I was struck by how different our interactions with our respective...

Weather dog

Abbi was acting more jumpy than normal today, so I checked the weather to see if we were going to have storms. Nothing but rain predicted, but now its storming. What a shock, my dog is smarter then the weather channel.

Pet owners you can help
Posted to:
Rescue & Help
Another way to help instead of donating money. Money is preferred, and it does help a lot. However some rescues don't see money if hardly ever receiving a thank you. If you have unused pet supplies that you could donate, or if your rescue needs to post wanted ads of things that your rescue needs...

First bikejor of the season!

I managed to take this short video today. My two hooligan boys were in fine form, while DH's Little miss perfect was quite distracted! My, how the tables have turned![sm=devil.gif] They've improved a lot since last season. They're quite good at ignoring people on the trails, both on foot...

Sheltie Issues
Posted to:

I am having problems with my 2 year old sheltie Roofus. He is a little bugger. He is jumpy and timid and barky all at the same time. He nips at my heels, jumps up at my hand when I walk in the yard, and runs the other way when I call him. He also hides as soon as company comes over and won't come...

Harley's Breed?
Posted to:
Choosing A Dog
I just got her sunday. She's nine months old and about 45 pounds. The former owners thought she was husky/german shepard mix, but her markings and color is identical to the black and tan shiba inu. I'm thinking more shiba/shepard mix. What do you think?
