First bikejor of the season!

    First bikejor of the season!

I managed to take this short video today.
My two hooligan boys were in fine form, while DH's Little miss perfect was quite distracted! My, how the tables have turned![sm=devil.gif]
They've improved a lot since last season. They're quite good at ignoring people on the trails, both on foot and on bikes. We didn't need to slow our pace at all to pass.
I got a new bike this year, and the brakes are much more sensitive than I'm used to. I accidentally tapped the front brake today, and let's just say I got real up close and personal with the trail.[:(]

The goal this season is to proof our 'on-bys/leave-its' with other dogs. Mine are usually interested in a friendly sniff.

Also, I need to find some trails with forks or turns for practicing Gee and Haw. Good trails are hard to come by.

I've got Mochi enrolled in an activi-joring class starting next month. It's mostly just for fun, since he's pretty good already, but training with more distractions is always fun. Plus I like our special night out together once a week![;)]

Cool!  I really think I shoudl do something like that with Tasha.  She does agility, just not very fast.  I think she would love to pull something....

It's really fun. And for the human, it's a lot more fun than walking the dogs!

I don't like going fast. It's really scary. I prefer a nice trot. I bet Tasha would like it! [:D]

That's very cool. The breeder I got my husky from used to bikejor his racing dogs in the summer on the dirt roads near his house. I never trained my pup to do it though. She just ran next to me on the bike rather than in front, which is a little tricky when other dogs start chasing!

Do you ever take your dogs rollerblading? That was my husky's favorite passtime in the summer! All I had to say was "rollerblade" and she'd go nuts. You have to love the husky drive to run and pull.

It looks like you were going fast enough. That was great. When I can, I plan for us to bike-jor or skate-jor. I want to get some of those wide wheel base skates like CM uses.

I'm too chicken for rollerblades! I wouldn't trust the brakes. With a bike, I can stop and hold the two dogs quite easily. There have been a few times where they were able to drag the bike with both my feet down and both sets of brakes applied. I'm afraid I'd get dragged face down on the rollerblades. My dogs aren't that well trained!

Maybe I'll give it a shot with just Mochi after he's completed his course in April. With one dog, it would probably be okay.

It didn't seem like I was going that fast... That vid was taken after they'd been going for 20 minutes. You should see them when they first get going! With two of them, me and the bike do not slow them at all!

Ah, do you mean Cross-skates or [linkhttp://www.gateskate.com/trailskate.asp?JS=1]Gateskates?[/link] DH wants those. I prefer the bike or scooter.

Apparently, Cross-skates are no longer being manufactured. You can find them on E-bay sometimes though. DH says that Gateskates are much cheaper than Cross-skates.

They do look really fun. Maybe if DH gets them this summer, I'll give them a try.

BTW, have you seen that Kokanee commercial with the Sasquatch on that two-wheeled, downhill 'board' thing? I wonder how those would work!
