Sam has a lump..advice please

Last night my husband noticed a lump on Sam's neck. It's really obvious so I can't imagine it's been there for long. He doesn't seem at all bothered by it. He yelps and squeals a lot, but that is just how Sam is, it's nothing new and doesn't seem to be associated with touching...
