What a difference a year makes.

What a difference a year makes.

Since it is the last day of 2006, I am going to post this question.

What changed over the course of the year for you?

I am in awe of what changes unfold over a year. 2006 gave us a LOT of changes. This time last year we were unsure as to where the Air Force was sending us next. DH was about to change career fields. We only had Hayley and Shannara as our fur friends. We lived in a small upstairs apartment and I had 2 kids at home while the other 2 were in school full time.

Over the course of 2006, many of the changes happened in the very first few months of the year. The Air Force told us where we were moving. My 3rd son started school. We bought our very first house and moved in May. Instead of driving the kids to school, theirs is in walking distance. We have welcomed Trinity, Bubbles, Static and Amber into our lives. DH is in a much calmer place with a less stressful career field. We have enjoyed DH not being under the threat of deployment for the past 10 months and the outlook of no deployments are still bright through September 2007. We started attending temple services again and the kids are learning Hebrew. After years of constant separations, hubby and I are reconnecting and he is reconnecting with the kids. I took my first ever road trip by myself and had a true vacation this year.

We are looking to more changes in 2007 but with the stability of having a home of our own. DH and I are finally in a place where we can discuss long range plans of how to finish our degrees. 2007 is starting off on a bright note and I hope to maintain that positive outlook.

So, again, what changes occurred for you in 2006? After all, what a difference a year makes.

Last Dec. we had just gotten Gracie, so on the doggie front a lot has changed, she's settled in and a true member of the family, she's gotten bigger as well, and unfortunately the heartworms have made themselves present [&:]. Tookey's about the same!  Oldest daughter in gymnastics instead of ballet. But my youngest daughter has changed so much! Last Dec. she was 10 months old, now she's almost two, so talk about a difference a year makes!! We painted inside this year, got new furniture and flooring, so our house looks very different. Other than that, most of the rest of our lives are still the same. Thanks for starting this thread, it's good to think about things, although it kind of made me sad thinking of my baby growing up!!

Well, sufficive to say that 2006 will go down in the family history as the year of incredible stress due to medical emergencies.  I absolutely will NOT bring this thread down by recanting all the crisis![:o]

But, it looks like things are on the upswing and I'm praying for a much calmer 2007...where, as Ron said, my biggest drama is how much money I can raise for the MS Walk!

What changed over the course of the year for you?

    *I am debt free [sm=dance.gif]

*My pet sitting business is increasing to the point that maybe next year at this time if you ask this same question I can say I've left my full time job to work for myself

*My dog is healthy and having no issues for the first time in the 3 1/2 years that we've had her.

    Happy New Year to all!

Our business has continued to grow nicely. For the first time we are contemplating being able to hire a full time person. (Hopefully DS #2)

Oldest son returned from deployment to Iraq, and he and his family left for Okinawa.

Middle son started a wonderful new relationship, and I expect to hear wedding plans mentioned anytime now.

Daughter's husband left for deployment, and they welcomed a new baby into the family

I quit "thinking" I wanted to volunteer at the local shelter, and started "doing" it.

We are in the process of buying a house to rent to middle son and his GF.

    We celebrated our 28th anniversary

Dogs are all still with us and doing well

It has been a good year.  [:)]

We didn't have any major changes ... which is a good thing.  Oldest DS managed to buy himself a little house in Sacramento.  Not sure how he managed that and DO NOT want to know.  Some things are better not to know. [:D] Youngest DS finally finished school - it was a long haul for him , going to school for a semester, working for a semester - but he finally got his degree and has a job he likes. And ... at the end of this month DH and I will celebrate 40 years of marriage. I can remember wondering what it would be like to actually live to be as old as 40 [:)] and wondering why anybody would want to be that old anyway.

[sm=lol.gif] - Yep, me too!  Congratulations on 40 years of marriage Joyce.  That is definitely something to be proud of.  I hope you have something magnificent planned to celebrate.

Last year at this time my DH took a job as an EMT for a private ambulance co.  Lousy pay and hours and I honestly didn't see what the next step would be.  He'd been trying for a year and a half to get on with the fire dept, but hadn't had any luck.  In March he got a ltr from the city asking if he was still interested.  We were afraid to get our hopes up because he still had to get thru an agility test (they lost 80% of the applicants on that), then a physical, background check, etc.  He made it thru though and started the academy in Aug and graduated last month. Christmas day was his first day on the job - so last year ended and this year began very well for us [:D].

I lost Shari due to old age.[sm=cry.gif]

My son finally got his driver's license and a car.  He also turned 18 late in the year.  Now I can boot his butt out if he gets out of hand.[sm=lol.gif]

I lost a very good friend due to a heart attack, he was only 45.[&o]

I started volunteering at the animal shelter.

I brought Bear into my life. [:)]
