Don't want to give up on our Beagle but...
Posted to:
Nutrition & Exercise
A little background. We got a Beagle puppy July 1 last year from a pet store that was shut down a month later because too many dogs died days after leaving the store. I think ours would have as well, but we loved our dog, Abby, and did all we could to get her healthy. She had pneumonia and it took 6...

Fall River Massachusetts BSL!!!! Alert
Posted to:
Rescue & Help
Fall River, MA is considering BSL - if you live there, please call your city officials and let them know you don't want Search and Rescue dogs muzzled or confined to home, etc. I'd put up the actual proposal, but it's home and I'm at the office.

Why does she bark at the TV?
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
My 6 month old puppy hates TV. When I turn it on, she barks at the TV and acts like she is afraid of it. I muted it but she still barks at it. Maybe she thinks there are real people in it? I really miss watching TV and dont want to live without it...hehe. Anyone heard of this before?

Hi everyone, Sheena hurt her right hind knee and now she needs 2 weeks of full rest (her x-rays are negative but she is limping and have trouble walking). I need some help with ideas for games you can play with a dog that do not require a lot of movement - walking is fine. I will do a lot of clicker...

Territorial at agility class?
Posted to:
Training & Behavior
Just wanted to ask for input on an issue I'm having with Lucy. We've been going to the kennel club once a week (for obedience, then agility) for more than 6 months now. Over the past couple months, she's developed her "barking skills". I am kidding, because it is very bad for two...

Fine Dining

I wanted to share this with everyone and since I know not everyone visits training, thought I'd share it here. I bought Leslie Nelson's Really Reliable Recall video and watched it. The part that struck me in her video is the concept of fine dining. This is the difference between eating at...

OK, so they are hooked, now I need help. The dogs are so hooked on getting home cooked foods, they just love it, I have never seen them so happy and just spunky. What do I do? Is there a recipe? Do they need supplements? What about oils and such? Confusion is everywhere here, LOL! I was a nutromax...

Why to not leave dogs out unattended...

This makes me want to scream, or cry, or both. What kind of person gets their kicks off something like this? Poisoned meat kills eight dogs in Ada ADA -- Nine dogs were poisoned, and at least eight of them died, after someone tossed tainted hamburger meat over fences in a west...

Long lines?
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
Lately I've noticed that a lot of people on this board that don't let their dog run off leash say that they use long lines instead. Sooooo, are these just really long leashes? How long? I think this would be a good option for Caesar when we go for hikes, because I definitely don't trust...

Doesn't like too much barking....
Posted to:

OK, Sally herself is NOT much of a barker. I work midnights, and if someone is knocking on the door during the day, it is the knocking that wakes me, not the dog--she's just looking at me like "Aren't you going to get that?" She seems to be bothered by barking in general. We went...
