Hooked now I need your help

OK, so they are hooked, now I need help.  The dogs are so hooked on getting home cooked foods, they just love it, I have never seen them so happy and just spunky.
What do I do? Is there a recipe? Do they need supplements? What about oils and such?
Confusion is everywhere here, LOL!  I was a nutromax feeder then a pukeanuba feeder then you have all convinced me to change to Canidae, which they love, then we went homecooked with chicken and veggies, so what do I need to know?
I want to still do the Canidae kibble I think, at least for awhile, my puppy is only 16 weeks old so I think she needs that, so any and all recipes, suggestions and reccomendations accepted.

Thanks to all of you my dogs now think I am the QUEEN![:D]

I do a combination of 2/3 kibble and 1/3 homecooked, that way I don't have to supplement with any vitamins.  I learned all about homecooking and nutrition in general from reading Monica Segal's book and booklets.  Here is a link to her site:

    My dogs love homecooking!

Variety!  Even with home cooking you need variety.  Different protein sources (meats), different grains (if you use them) and you need a calcium source (unless you are using raw bones).

Glenda has a great home cooking recipe that she loves to share.  In return you can sponser her on her MS Walk!

Hi momtomany, I love your user name. I've been supplementing Jessie's food with homecooked for quite a while. I feed her Eagle Holistic Select, and it says on their site that you can supplement their kibble with up to 25% raw food without upsetting the nutritional balance of the kibble,  but I add homecooked instead. It's a great way to add variety to their diet, and the reason I do it is because I don't think they should be fed a diet of all processed food. It wouldn't be healthy for people to only eat products that came from a bag or can, and I think that dogs benefit from the addition of fresher food to their diet. The link that luvarescue gave you is great. Just remember to cut down on the kibble a little so you don't give them too many calories, and remember to avoid certain foods like onions. I think it's great that you've decided to add homecooked to your dogs food.

Well, here's what I've been doing and this still needs a little work

I use a lb of beef, cook broccoli and then mash it into a pate, some kibble, some rice (if I have it, but don't put much), bone meal from Solid Gold, a DermCapES for her skin and I'm thinking of adding a joint supplement too.

I can't cook up liver or other organs and mix because then she will get diarrhea from the organ meats.  So, I'm hoping to maybe get her eating a bit of Natural Balance dog roll which is full of organs as a treat and/or another natural 100% liver jerky type treat to make up for it.

She's very sensitive so I have to go with what works.

I especially like the book, Better Food for Dogs, very easy recipes and the ingredients are stuff you'd probably buy and have on hand anyway.

    I second that book suggestion.
