    Doesn't like too much barking....

OK, Sally herself is NOT much of a barker. I work midnights, and if someone is knocking on the door during the day, it is the knocking that wakes me, not the dog--she's just looking at me like "Aren't you going to get that?"

She seems to be bothered by barking in general. We went to the pet sotre tonight and there was a really loud and obnoxious golden there who kept leaping and barking. She sniffed him nicely, but really seemed bothered by the noise he was making--she seemed unsettled, and didn't calm down until we were further from the barking. When she is boarded at the vet's she just lays quietly in her pen and seems exausted when we pick her up--like she's gotten no sleep. When ever she comes accross a yippy little dog, she just gets this "What's wrong with you?" look on her face.

Has anyone ever heard of a dog that is bothered by barking?

I haven't heard of a dog like that, but it is kind of like with people.....

Some people are more quiet & don't like being around others who
    can't stop talking !

Sure have SillySally.  Both of mine are quite vocal, especially when playing with other dogs.  Sometimes they play with another dog, everything is going fine until one of mine starts barking.  Then the poor dog will just shut down and won't interact with them again.  I think mine missed out on socialization before I adopted them because they use barking/growling to incite play.  Cuma slowly learned the play bow, but Blitz hasn't gotten it yet.  But yes, some dogs definitely don't like all the noise.

Yes, I have two, they're basenjis.  They seem pretty put out about dogs that just bark.  The malinois will bark once or twice if something is up, but dogs that just bark are different.  I think it's common in basenjis, of course basenjis don't suffer fools gladly and that seems to be how they view barking dogs.

Slick doesn't like it either and he's not a barker himself.  The only barking *he* does is the one "warning" bark when he hears someone directly outside out front door.   He's literally never barked at a dog.

As for being barked at:  he'll be all excited when he sees a dog (from far away) then as we get closer, if the dog barks at him, he clearly doesn't "get it".  He acts all shocked and upset, sometimes he runs.  Although, if it's a tiny dog yapping at him, he doesn't even acknowledge it!  So insulting!!
