stupid ticks
Posted to: News & Entertainment
don't have time today to take Molly for one of her long walks (got a shelter fundraiser to do this afternoon). So this morning DH and I took her for a shortish walk on our road. We didn't get too far when we noticed probably 6 ticks on her leg. Upon inspection/removal we discovered many many...

When to say good-bye

Hello, I'm new to this forum, and have a question that I really never wanted to ask--- We have an eleven year old female Rat Terrior that, about six months ago was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. We've watched her health go down hill despite our best attempt to keep her healthy. Presently...

Hot days = loss of appetite?
Posted to: News & Entertainment
This is going to be the 1st summer we've had Boomer. Yesterday was the 1st real hot day and we noticed that he hasn't been that hungry. Took him longer than usual to eat breakfast and the same for dinner. This morning he didn't eat at all. Could this be due to the heat and drinking lots of...

What color is your brown dog?
Posted to: News & Entertainment
This relates mostly to purebreds, who have a specific name for the colors. For instance, my brown Collies are "sable". But if they were another breed, they could be fawn, red, liver, rust, etc. You get the point. So, what color is your brown dog??

Saddened and furious at the same time...

I am sitting here listening to newborn puppies whine and cry... puppies that should not be here but have been brought into this world because no one wants to accept FULL responsiblilty for a dog. This is a dog with a sad story. A dog with nine lives... a dog that everyone wants but no one wants to take...

Removing a tail
Posted to: News & Entertainment
Hi, I recently adopted a 9 month old labrador/pitbull cross. He still has his tail and I think it would a lot better without it. Is it possible to have it removed still or should that have been done when he was 2 or 3 days old?

Adding Natura Products

Since we added dog food at the kennel/grooming salon where I work, sales have been GREAT! The Eagle Pack is hard to keep on the shelves and the clients are very happy with it for the most part. We are getting our first order of Natura products in this week! I'm very excited, as I feel it will be...

dog treat size
Posted to: Nutrition & Exercise
Hey is it ok to give a dog treat made for a small dog (less the 20LB) to a border collie (around 35LB)? Im asking because there are different sized dog foods which need to be bought for the dogs size becasue of the amount of fiber, vitamens in them. Im asking because we put small treats into his kong...

Calming down around dogs...
Posted to: News & Entertainment
Well, we are working with Sally on calming down when we pass/see other dogs out. She isn't nasty to them, but gets overexcited. Every so often I can get her to downstay and hold it, but if the other dog is playful or if she is energetic she generally breaks the stay. What I have been doing when she...

What kind of dog do I own?
Posted to: News & Entertainment
It looks a bit huskyish. It has that wolf look, but I'm pretty sure it's not husky. It's very slim, pointed ears, face is mostly black except for a streak of white and the body is white with various brownish black spots. It's 8 months old and comes up to my knee.

Water fun
Posted to: News & Entertainment
Annie's post about the pool being opened inspired me to take mine out for some water fun of our own. Don't have the kiddie pool yet, so we improvised. Gracie was not very impressed with the hose and got away as fast as she could. Boss on the other hand. well, you see.
