Maltese: Coat length
Posted to: News & Entertainment
My maltese has a relatively short curly coat - he is fluffly, but his coat does not reach all the way to the ground. Is this normal?

My dog woke me up at 5am this morning sucking in air through her nose in a wheezing kind of way like she couldn't really breathe. I am out of town so it went on for about 10 min while I called the front desk of the hotel, got a vet number, then got an ER vet number, then called. By the time I called...

Those who work full-time....

Just wondering, for those who work away from home, do you crate your dog during the day? Or do you let them have free reign of the house? If you do crate, how long do you crate them for?

Help!
Posted to: Training & Behavior
Greyhound/black lab mix... I got him from a shelter around easter '07. He was abused, I think. He seems scared of a lot of things. Sometimes he just seems unsure. He'll wag his tail, but he wont come to me. He will come when my boyfriend calls for him. He avoids me. I have never done anything...

Swelling?
Posted to: Health & Grooming
Hello, I'm new here. I was searching the net with no success, so here goes: We adopted our girl Salem almost a month ago. The vet estimated her to be about 4.5 months old; we took her to be spayed right away. She had some post-spay problems that involved her having reactions to the sutures...

Hi Everyone, just signed up here. Love what I've seen so far. We just adopted a dog from the shelter. She's a 7 (or 8 or so) month old Lab/Whippet (we think) cross. She was a stray pick-up, so we really don't know much about her at all, though I don't know why somebody wouldn't have...

More dog agression issues.
Posted to: Training & Behavior
So I've been working with Giz for some time now. I've gotten to a point where I can calm the agression when there are other dogs around if I catch it when it first starts. I can simply say "don't" and her eye look straight at me as we pass by the other dog. It took me a very long...
