update to this post...here is my reply to someone telling me people don't like Cesar Milan here:  Thanks for the welcome.  It is surprising to hear that somebody would not like Cesar.  I have learned so much from him.  I had learned alot over the last 15 years on my own (throgh lots of mistakes) but after the first time I saw Cesar I was hooked.  Not liking Cesar is like not liking the very nature of human beings and animals.  Cesar hits the nail on the head everytime,,,and watching him is like watching mini-miracles...how could anyone not believe in his teachings?  Seeing IS believing in this case.

I've seen this guys name brought up a few times. Is he the guy that says he knows what dogs say? And what is it that he does wrong?

I love watching Cesar, even if I don't agree with everything he does. However, the above statement just sounds way too much like an advertisement or something!

well, if it sounds like an ad,,,that is just how i write.  I LOVE CESAR 100%. AND he is a huge supporter of women,,,which makes hime a great man. ;-)

    It's actually quite eay.

I prefer Jean Donaldson and Patricia McConnell (as well as others) in my learning of the human-dog relationship. Since I moved away from Mr. Milan's ways, my relationship with my dog has improved 10 fold.

My biggest problem with Mr. Milan's methods is that he uses the same method for every case. I also think his "you're not the pack leader" one size fits all method will lead others to problems...

    JMHO though.

Liking or disliking the methods of Cesar Milan is a personal preference we are all entitled to. He's just another guy with another method. Different dogs require different methods. One size does not fit all. >u.u<

I'm sorry but... are you talking about Cesar, or Jesus? >O_o<

Cesarfan, do you know who the following people are?
    Trish King
    Kathy Sdao
    Patricia McConnell
    Sue Sternberg
    Suzanne Clothier
    Karen London
    Ian Dunbar
    Karen Pryor
    Emma Parsons
    Teoti Anderson
    Terry Ryan
    Jean Donaldson
    Pat Miller
    Leslie Nelson
    Patty Ruzzo (sadly, now deceased)
    Deborah Wood
The list goes on, but if you have not studied these people yet, you may want to avoid placing yourself on the CM map until you do.  I think that it is fine to want to emulate good trainers, but if you don't know who the people on my list are, you haven't yet compared enough methods.  I would urge you to investigate by reading or watching videos by some of those folks.  If you are interested more in traditional training than in purely positive training, the following names might be of interest to you:
    Brian Kilcommons
    Terri Arnold
Cesar couldn't even come close to Brian's leash handling skill, and the one-size-fits-all approach is simplistic at best, harmful at worst.
It seems as though you really like dogs - keep educating yourself.  We all started somewhere. [:)]

Most of us have found that postive reinforcement training is far more effective than Cesars yank and crank methods.  I prefer to actually communicate with my dogs and not use force or violence to bully them.  Works great for us, and I can call my off lead dogs off a running dear or rabbit and have never used a shock collar in my life.  Don't use a treadmill either.....
