1st RMSF and now Hypothyroidism - any advice
Posted to:
Health & Grooming
In April, my 5 yr old Border Collie/St. Bernard mix was diagnosed with Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. She spent about a week in the hospital and began to recover and was much better for about 2 months. In the third month of treatment and recovery she just started going a bit down hill. It wasn't bad...

Aw Man... Moral Dilemma
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
Ok, my grandmother asked me to join another pet forum she found. She told me how great it was etc. so I was like "sure, I'll join up when I get home!" but when I got home and went to the URL, I found that it wasn't JUST a forum. On the main page there is a LARGE classified section,...

Puppy peeing in crate (help me!!!)
Posted to:
Training & Behavior
Ok, this is the first time I've actually crate trained a puppy, all our other dogs were strays so they got potty trained by being in for a little while then going back out and so forth. Anyhow, my foster dog (Sport) is 6 months old and it seems that no matter what I do when I come home he has peed...

Timberlin boots for dogs
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
I take madi up in the mountains and worry about her paws. I found a "fu fu" doggy store that will order doggy timberlins. We tried to shoes at petsmart at it was so funny to see her walk in the shoes. I am a high school band director and I must tell you, she did the best "high mark time"...

Heart is breaking

We have a 13 year old husky that we took to the vet 2 weeks ago. It was time for her yearly exam as well as her pup. Her pup is 11 now. Gee how time flies. She has been having problems walking. Her back legs are not strong anymore. The vet has been our vet for as long as we have had our first pet together...

Do dogs recognise family to some extent?
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
I've been thinking about this for a while.... I have always been greeted like a member of the family that has been gone a very long time by my mother's dogs, even though I haven't lived at home for a number of years and before that I was only home during uni holidays. Both my mother's...

What are the chances...?

This is sort of a follow-up to the "Painful Ear" post...I took Cyrus in to the vet today, and she inspected both ears. As far as she could see, she found both of them 'clean.' However, she also asked me to fast him tonight and take him in tomorrow for sedation, so she can probe deeper...

Is this normal?

After we give Kira a bath, she runs like a crazy dog back and forth, growling at herself, throwing whatever toy is in her way around.... then rubs against the wall and carpet... then back on her feet running back and forth, and getting into a pouncing position.... if i call her, she comes right away...

Fur on ears missing in patches
Posted to:
Health & Grooming
That's the best way I could describe it in the subject line. Ash's fur is thinning and/or missing in patches on her ears. When I get home later, I will try and post pictures. It's not a lot, but it's noticeable. The top right ear almost looks nicked, like someone took a little bite...

Is Chicken Soup that bad?
Posted to:
Nutrition & Exercise
I've been looking for a new food for my pup. He is on Solid Gold Wolf Cub but still has soft stool for a month now. I've received samples of Innova, Chicken Soup, Muenster, Wellness and Nutro. I gave him taste tests, he seems to like them all. The Muenster has too much corn/grain for my liking...

I tried to move my post from Q&A to here but I can't, (i'm not good with these computers!) (Admin, sorry for taking up so much space) Here is the boy again! His coat is much more shiny now that he is eating good food and some raw meat thrown in with it. I can't get fish oil here for...

Today when I opened the door Bailey got out. I thought she needed to pee so I let her out with me not on the leash. All of a sudden she took off running to the top of the street where there is an old highway and still heavy traffic at times. I often let her out in the back yard when I am with her and...
