Yes but as much as I want to give my alternative views there, by joining that forum I would be supporting a website that allows BYBs and puppy/kitten mills to sell their puppies/kittens on the classified ads (at no charge to them). Like I said it is a moral dilemma. >-.-< And for people reading this who can't tell the difference between adoption/reputable breeders and the mass selling of pets on classified ads, here it is:
Reputable breeders do not NEED to advertise their puppies/kittens in the newspaper. They usually have the homes lined up BEFORE they are even born. They sell them for a fee, and with a legally binding contract. They have the parents tested for every health problem imaginable before breeding. They screen every potential home. Rescues and shelters require an adoption fee to help keep their organization running and to help pay vet bills etc. For most of them you also have to sign a contract and answer a lot of questions to determine whether or not you'd make a suitable owner.
Most of the puppies and kittens in the classifieds are from BYBs (backyard breeders), who are selling for profit, and who toss them upon anyone who has a buck. They don't have them health tested either. They pretty much are just in it for the money, and they breed them over and over... >-.-<
