Timberlin boots for dogs

I take madi up in the mountains and worry about her paws. I found a "fu fu" doggy store that will order doggy timberlins. We tried to shoes at petsmart at it was so funny to see her walk in the shoes. I am a high school band director and I must tell you, she did the best "high mark time" I have ever seen.

Anyone ever had success with the boots? There are some beautiful water falls up in the mountains but I would have to take her on some pretty rocky paths to get there.

I'm wondering the same thing about boots for snow. I adopted Toby in winter so I've seen proof that he adores the snow, but this spring and summer he's really become accustomed to long, meandering hikes in the woods. I'd hate to curtail his outdoor time so dramatically once the snow begins to fall, but I know his poor pads and toes will become icebound if he's out too long. I'm wondering first how he'll take to booties (he's a tolerant guy, but not big into clothes and gadgets) and whether the snow will just collect in them at the tops and freeze his ankles instead.

i have never tried any boots on our dogs, but i would look into the type of boots mushers use for sled dogs. they are made to protect the paws, not look pretty.

have you given any thought to taking her on a short hike on paths similar to the rocky ones you describe. she might do just fine without any type of paw protection. [sm=2cents.gif]

We go on the short ones now, I was just hoping to advance our exploration. It is really hot here in Vegas. The month of June and July she won't go for a walk until after 10 because the sidewalk is too hot. I am just trying to protect her.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated!
