    Is this normal?

After we give Kira a bath, she runs like a crazy dog back and forth, growling at herself, throwing whatever toy is in her way around.... then rubs against the wall and carpet... then back on her feet running back and forth, and getting into a pouncing position....

if i call her, she comes right away and is fine, but if i let her go, she'll do this for a little while?

    is this normal post-bath behavior?

Dunno if it is normal, but my dog does something like that.

I'd like to think it's normal because every dog I've ever had in my house has always gone bonkers after a bath.  We had to close the door to the bathroom when running water in the tub because FeFe would find a way to jump in (she LOVED baths!)  Gracie & Trixie both have running spells, put their faces down on the carpet and run with their butts in the air... bounce off the walls, furniture and us! So I'm gonna say YES absolutely normal lol [:D]

I would say it is normal. Sapphire does it every time we give her a bath! I love watching her go crazy. She looks so funny running all over everything.

Absolutely normal.  I'm not sure I've ever seen a dog that didn't do that to some degree or another.  I've got one who acts like after I brush him.

ETA: We call it the "zoomies".

Totally normal, sometimes referred to as Zoomies or Butt-tucking for the Lab folks.  Slick even does it after he's had his ears cleaned.   I LOVE it!!  [:D]

    It is the victory charge!!!

Madi, will charge from one end of the house to the next.  Then leap onto the water bed, flipping in circles until every cover on the bed is mounted up in the center of the bed.  Then she takes off again down the hall.  One time I did not get the covers flat by the time she came back, she tripped and went THUMP)(&;)(&#@$# shoulder first into the head board.  She now looks before leaping.  Isn't it great!  Now if we could only teach them to clean the tub after the bath!

Completely normal. Last week I posted some pictures of my boys after their baths. I couldn't get any action shots of Odin, but I got Loki rolling around on his towel. Here's the thread: [linkhttp://forum.dog.com/asp/tm.asp?m=121300]http://forum.dog.com/asp/tm.asp?m=121300[/link]

Most dogs are nutballs after getting a bath. I always think of it as "we're free, we didn't melt--yay!!"

This from a book called The Secret Lives of Dogs

    Running Around After Baths

Even dogs who enjoy baths will usually emerge from the water with a burst of super canine speed.  They shake like crazy, then lunge for something dry--carpets or couches when they're inside or pathes of dirt when they're out--to rub and squirm against.  Sometimes, they're dirt again before all their fur is dry.

"When you bathe dogs, you have them totally controlled," says Bernadine Cruz, a veterinarian in Luguna Hills, California.  "When they finally get our of the water, they're like kids who have been turned loose on the playground after being cooped up all day."

The whole concept of baths is lost on dogs.  They're perfectly happy when their skin and fur are well-coated with their natural scents and oils, along with whatever they've been rolling around in lately.  "The last thing they want is frou-frou perfume on them and water in their ears," says Dr. Thomas.

Dogs who tear around madly after baths are probably trying to make themselves smell more like dogs again, which is why they often roll their wet, newly clean selves in the dirtiest stuff they can find.

My dog does the exact same thing.

I call the running with tail tucked the "zoomies" and the whole ordeal AUTO DRY!!!
    • Gold Top Dog
Ah yes, the zoomies!! All of my dogs have gotten the post bath zoomies, perfectly normal [:D] It makes me laugh every time!!
