Flea Preventative - again.....
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
It is 14 days passed the girl's due date for their flea medication. I have an unopened box of Advantix, but am afraid to use it. Layla is so supersensitive to EVERYTHING and I've heard so many horror stories about bad reactions and death. The vet said they would take it back and give me a refund...

What do dogs hear when bats are flying around?
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
When I walk my dog early in the morning (twilight) I can see and hear bats. To the human ear it is a little chirping sound, but what does it sound like to a dog? They have a keener sense of hearing and since bats use a high frequency sound to locate insects I wonder why the sound does not hurt a dog's...

What to do with Jack???
Posted to:
Training & Behavior
Jack (2 year old lab), as much as I love him, and as smart as I think that he is, has presented me with a little bit a training/behavior issue. He is *way* too food motivated. Most of his bad behaviors are food related. Nothing aggressive--interestingly enough, for as much as he likes food, he is not...

Willow's platelets are low!
Posted to:
Health & Grooming
The vet left me a message and she wants me to call her tomorrow. Her platelets are down again, she didn't leave me the exact number. She said she wants to discuss more tests and possible adding some medication. I don't know. I'm trying not to fall to pieces thinking this is serious--something...

Club feet....(OT baby related)
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
Well its been an exhausting week to say the least. I had to take my daughter to see the Occupational Therapist for her feet. And well she's now in leg splints. My son and her were both born with club feet. My son never got treated properly because the doctor kept telling us to "just wait"...

Prednisone puppy mom's please read
Posted to:
Health & Grooming
Alright, everything is OK, but I do have a question. Willow is hungry all the time on this medication, Prednisone. I've been feeding her probably double what she would normally eat if not more. So, is it OK for me to feed her MORE, since she wants it? I was originally told to feed her her regular...

Doggy stairs

I bought Tootsie some for the bed because she really shouldn't be jumping up ( about 3 ft.) and definitely not jumping down. My question is: How do I get her to use them?

How much Butter is too much butter?
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
So ya, I got home from the hospital to a decently clean house. I was suprised. However, I noticed a margarine lid on the floor that had been chewed on. Not a huge deal since whoever did the chewing obviously hadn't been too bored or the lid would have been chewed into a million bits rather than just...

How to figure how many calories in a can of dog food?
Posted to:
Nutrition & Exercise
Is there a way to figure how many calories in a can of dog food if it doesn`t say it on the can? Example - Evanger`s Super Premium Duck & Sweet Potato Dinner. It doesn`t say on the can or on their web site or anywhere else that I have looked.

Monroe struck gold this morning
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
As I went downstairs this morning I noticed that Monroe was looking quite smug and satisfied with himself while Morrison was dancing around as if he wanted something. This is all strange to start as DH and I were upstairs and they are usually up there with us. Monroe trotted by me and went to lie down...
