    Monroe struck gold this morning

As I went downstairs this morning I noticed that Monroe was looking quite smug and satisfied with himself while Morrison was dancing around as if he wanted something.  This is all strange to start as DH and I were upstairs and they are usually up there with us.  Monroe trotted by me and went to lie down in his usual place on the landing, all nonchalant like.

I walked through the kitchen to the back door and discovered that DH had left the pantry door open as well as the lid to the dog food bin off!  There was a "well" in the food and Monroe had obviously been chowing down for some time.  I closed everything up and walked back to the stairs.  Monroe looked down at me as if hoping I hadn't noticed and then I gave him "the look".  He knows he is busted but what can he do?  So he let's out a big sigh and puts his head down.  Then he tries to give me the puppy dog "I'm sorry" eyes, the whole time looking VERY satisfied with himself.

Meanwhile Morrison didn't get a thing and is waiting for his turn, gazing at me with hope in every ounce of his being.  He is still hoping...

I managed to supress my laughter until I was in the car - the look on his face was simply priceless!

You have to love those labs. Their stomachs are bottomless pits!

    OMG, that is so funny!!!!

Well, when it comes to 'getting rid of it' HE's the one who's gonna have the heavy gut!!  Just seriously don't let him play really hard til he gets rid of all of it!!

And since you kindly poated pics of Monroe looking innocent we really can picture it all LOL

I'll bet he was satisfied - he was thinking ha ha Mom had me on a diet for months and it's the first time I can recall my belly being full!

And Morrison you are a very good boy - but next time if you really want some follow Monroe's lead - labs will get you fed boy!

PS one of my Bugsy isn't a lab tests is that he wouldn't eat the food if it were open - he'd come to get you to SHOW you that it is open and you should give him some.  I was putting his food in to our storage bin and it was wide open, he had his head in the bag sniffing and looking but never tried to eat it.  So I walked away but could see him through the window, still didn't eat it, but did come and get me and try to convince me to give him some.  I tell ya no lab would do that - ever!

Poor Morrison didn't have a chance of getting anything - he acts more like Bugsy because of all his NILIF training.  He looks to me for permission to eat something whereas Monroe dives right in.

Monroe will have a heavy gut today and I did warn DH who will be taking him for a nice leasurly walk this afternoon before any swimming or running.  The sad part is that he won't even know WHY his tummy might feel too full.

Silly boy!  Some time I will tell you all about the 10 Cadbury Easter eggs that he ate...

OH GROSS! - no living thing should eat 10 Cadbury eggs!

Oh now if Bugsy had access to a bin full of paper THAT he couldn't resist Confused

Oh boy....Monroe & Apollo would be like 2 peas in a pod. Apollo can open cabinets and rubbermaid food storage bins. He'll have to show Monroe sometime Wink

Hahahahahaha, I can just see the look on both their faces.  I bet Monroe thought he died & went to doggie heaven.  What a little glutton.  I'm pretty sure that Grady would not touch the food if he were faced with that opportunity.  Aspen & Maghee would probably be giving each other boosts to get in the food bin.  They are both serious food hounds.

    Dear Monroe,

You're a lucky Lab for sure. Our humans put our food not only in the pantry but in a special bin that we absolutely cannot open. They also proceed to give us miserly portions when we know the bin is full. We've heard something about not putting weight on; that is toopid, we don't care what we look like. Can we pretty please move to your house ?
