Need thoughts over dog having seizure, choked
on a beef heart. Dakota, my infamous choker, 5# Pomeranian who's notorious for choking on food. We literally always have to cut his food into VERY tiny pieces, as he is a slow eater, it's just he tends to get things lodged in his throat. He's been checked by our vet numerous times, in...

Tracking Question
I've been attempting to train Rafe in Schutzhund-style tracking for a looooong while now, and he sort of gets it, but then not really. The method my trainer told me to use was the "box method" where you make a scent box (stomping over the ground in a 2 x 2 ft square), then sprinkling food...

Orijen
I'm doing it! I'm making the switch from EP Holistic Fish to Orijen 6-fish, which Tootsies in love with. She is doing fine on the EP, but I've been wanting to try Orijen, so I'm doing it. Wish us luck!!

Imported pet foods irradiated
This is kinda old news and only affects Australia as far as I know, but thought I should mention it just as a general heads up. There have been cat deaths in Australia linked to Orijen pet food. It is thought that the contamination is a result of the irradiation treatment the pet food has to go through...

Any juicers in here?
I've just recently starting juicing again. I've read that saving the pulp is a good idea and can be used in breads and other things. Seems like the dogs could benefit from the pulp. In my kitchen, right now...I have about a cup of mostly carrot pulp with some spinich pulp. Any reason why I shouldn't...

Nutro
I know I *just* got the on Diamond(which, isn't the BEST, but it's better then Kibbles 'N Bits) but Nutro looks good, and were in the petstore several times a month. Sooo, it's more expensive pound-for-pound, but seeing as most of there feeding requirements say 2 - 3 cups for a 55lb dog...

Brag on Sam!!
Only a little brag, but still! I tried what Kimberly(I think Anne told her) told me to do about Sam only wanting to 'down' with a hand-signal. Well, I did the hand singal then then said down and removed my hand - and he did it! A few more time's and I started just saying 'down'...

Amount per feeding question.
Buster's tumor in his mouth is getting worse everyday. I think it is becoming more and more uncomfortable for him to eat. I usually feed him a cup of food per feeding with some yogurt, or rice, or something added to it. He hasn't been finishing his meals and I think it is because it is uncomfortable...

Sandy training quirk...
I just noticed this last night when I did a short training session with Sandy before bed. Now when I train Sandy, I'm standing in the kitchen or where ever but I'm standing. When I train Maze, I'm sitting or puttering or whatever.. But I'm not always standing. I didn't think anything...

What does your dog's diet look like?
I was just curious to see what everyone feeds they're loved ones and why. I used to be a 100% hardcore raw feeder. However, with the economy and the desire to get a second cat, we've decided to make some cut backs around the house. So, I'm now about a 50% raw feeder. Harmony is allergic...

News on Orijen....
Anyone heard of the cat food recalls in Australia due to their government requiring irradiation on all foods that enter the country. I guess this caused 5 cats to become ill due to over irradiation of Orijen cat foods for a short duration. They have now stopped all Orijen shipments to Australia for the...

Buying utility articles (jennie_c_d)
No, not even close, LOL! I have decided, though, that Ena needs a metal article to "play" with the same way she's "playing" with wooden and plastic dumbbells. She's 11 months old, but she's still every bit puppy, and super mouthy. I want to get some metal in that mouth...

Hates the new food....
Taz hates, HATES, ***HATES*** the new food(Diamond). He nibbles out the other food we have mixed in(Kibbles N Bits) and only eats that....MAYBE! He thinks it has been contaminated by the Diamond. LOL. Normally I'm one of those "He'll eat it when he gets hugary" types. But, it's...

holistic food = compact smaller poops?
Someone in the another forum I belong to post this one.... I thought it is a good thing to share because it is hilarious Had to smile when I read the response to this question on the Canine Caviar website.... Q. I heard my dog's feces will be smaller, more compact, and will smell less if I...

Teaching Stand (Rally-O)
Sandy won't stand!! I've got a book called "Click your way to Rally" that I'm using to train Sandy and so far it's been great! Except for two problems.. She won't lie down and she won't stand. When I'm trying to get her down, I bring a treat from her nose and lower...

Introducing RAW chicken wings
I've read a bit about raw chicken wings being a good dental cleaning agent, and my dogs need it for sure. They've each eaten raw meat before and it went okay, but never a whole wing and never raw bone . . . whats the best way to introduce them to these? I'm not looking to add RAW to their...

Carrots w/ Eagle Pack
I am currently feeding my 7 1/2 month old siberian husky Eagle Pack: Large and Giant Breed Puppies formula. My dad wanted me to start giving him carrots because a relative of ours feeds his dogs carrots, etc. (its a long story). Are the carrots adding any nutritional value or just a waste of time and...
