Brag on Sam!!

    Brag on Sam!!

Only a little brag, but still!

I tried what Kimberly(I think Anne told her) told me to do about Sam only wanting to 'down' with a hand-signal. Well, I did the hand singal then then said down and removed my hand - and he did it! A few more time's and I started just saying 'down'. He cought on quick! Such a smart doggie. LOL!

And, tonight, he learned an entirely new trick! "Crawl"! He sort of did it himself. I had treats in my hand a few feet from his nose, after a 'down' and he inched himself over there and nudged me. So I just put a word to it. About 10 times later, I stood up and said it - he didnt get it until I bent down and but my handfull of treats(still in hand) by my feet. THEN he got it.

I ended with on a good note.

Also - he's gotten REALLY calm lately. It's sort of weird...I'm thinking the puppy is being grwon out of, he's calmer in play and in the house. He's always HAPPY, but he's not jumping as much anymore - even when I let him out of his kennel outside. Maybe it's just the added training and stuff to do...? But, anyway, I had to brag!

Congratulations!  It's a great feeling when they finally "get it."

congrats! isnt it the best feeling? Big Smile

about him getting calmer... i dont wanna alarm you or anything, but it MIGHT be that he isnt feeling well. moca had a time when she was getting calmer, and i thought she was growing up and all that. well, when we finally got her chronic ear infections under control she was back to exactly the goofy pup i had in the beginning (and at 3 years i am STILL waiting for her to "grow up" lol). just to let you know. and sorry to bring it up in a happy thread...

I;ve already thought about it. But he's got no othre symptoms then being calmer. Did Moca have anyother signs?

Good job Sam!! Joker says those treats are worth it arent they?

I work with Joker through out the day on training but after supper(for the dogs) is when I do the real training. You know like actually taking 30 minutes to an hour of working with him. Well Mr.Smarty Pants has figured it out and if I'm a minute late on getting our "session" started he lets me know about it. Gets all whinny and cries until we start training.

Ha! Thats cute! Sam and I don't 'train' much, mostly just re-veiw the basics to keep him in practice and if I'm board, I'll try out a new one. LOL

Ha! Cute! I used to call Tuckers play-dead trip "Dead Dog" lol....I'd make it a game, and I'd say "BANG!"(his down/play-dead comand) and then walk up to him, going, "I'm gonna burry this Dead Doggie in, 3....2.....1!" and at '1' he'd jump up! LOL....I swear thats why I miss BC's then can learn ANYTHING!(not that Sam couldnt, or any other dog, but it just seems to take them 10X as long IMO)
