Hates the new food....

    Hates the new food....

Taz hates, HATES, ***HATES*** the new food(Diamond). He nibbles out the other food we have mixed in(Kibbles N Bits) and only eats that....MAYBE! He thinks it has been contaminated by the Diamond. LOL. Normally I'm one of those "He'll eat it when he gets hugary" types. But, it's 'winter' and I know my parents will resorte to table scraps soon. Tonight I added sweet peas and warm water to the kibble.....issue with this....Sam HATES sweet peas. :-/ Sam barely are ANY dinner. Taz wolfed his down. I normally try to add in the same thing to eat dogs food(due to convinence and fairness) but I can see this is not going to work.

Any suggestions to keep BOTH of them on there food?

Don't plan on mixing anything in unless you plan to do it long term....

He WILL eat, as long as nothing is medically wrong with him.

Erica - I know, I plan on it being long-term.....I put SOMETHING in there food every night....But sometimes I'm sort on time and just do water thou.

He doesn't have a super sensitive stomach does he? Kibbles n Bits is like candy - most dogs will pick it out in favor of the Diamond. If it were a choice between a more premium formula and the KnB there might not be so much contrast. KnB is like chocolate fudge cereal and the Diamond you picked is like grits, no butter or cheese. Which do you think a kid would go for? So what I'd do is just drop the KnB and offer the Diamond - or finish the bag of KnB if you can't stand to waste it, then start off the Diamond. If you offer it with something interesting like a raw egg (or soft poached - cracked into boiling water and allowed to cool), or canned mackeral or salmon, then he will associate the yummy topper with the new food. Don't go crazy on the topper, just a taste - later you can add more if you want to make it a part of his diet.

His tummy's solid. I forget that the KnB is candy-dog-food...LOL.....will tuna work?? I need to go to the store this week anyhow, but will tuna work for a few days??

Tuna is okay but do you have eggs? They would be better, honestly - better for him, and not as strong tasting (he'll get used to the taste of the food, or rather the non-taste, through the egg).

Yep, we've got eggs too....I figured I get rid of the tuna, but nevermind. LOL...they both looove egg so I'll add that,

Kibbles N Bits is full of sugar and salt so it's tasty junk food.

Heheheh....asking nephew at dinner "you want broccoli or a sucker?"

Give it time...he's used to the sugar.

Though sometimes I have seen a dog refuse a meal if they thought the food was bad...meaning something in it was moldy, etc.

If all the other animals are eating it, it's probably just him.

I had a bag of Innova several months back that all the dogs just started snubbing their noses up at, one dog threw up. Took and exchanged the food for another bag, all was good.
