my new pup is having problems he is 4 months old...wehn i take him out on schedule (guessing) about every 5 hours. sometimes when i take him out he just plays...i dont want him to associate potty time with playtime everytrip we go outside. i dont think he understands "potty" or "hurry up", but i use it whenever he shows signs, and after during praise. hopefully thatw will help. but how can i either better guess his potty times, or just get him to pee? does walking help?

sometimes people accidently teach their puppies that if they delay/don't pee then they get to stay outside and play longer. This often happens with people who take the pup out, and the second the pup  otties they march the pup back inside. A better strategy is to take the pup out on leash to a designated... more

I'm having a problem sort of similar, but not entirely... Our pup will go outside and just lay in the grass, not doing anything save for munching on it a little. I have been doing some freelance graphic design from home since I got laid off over a year ago. I haven't really put much effort into it though. I have a friend/ex-coworker that works in the graphics dept. at the local community college. She has given me their overflow work, but it's sporadic and definitely not enough to help pay the bills. Rather than do design for the general public, I'd like to send a letter to some local businesses that do graphic design in-house (create ads for the... more

This started on the training/behaviour chatter thread, but it was suggested that it be moved to its own thread so it doesn't get lost in all the chatter. The idea is to post photos, videos or descriptions of dog behaviour such as interactions with people or other dogs. I think it's best if the poster provides as little info as possible. That way, when other people interpret the behaviour and try to work out what's going on, they're unclouded by what the poster already knows. This... more

Probably you will agree, that harnesses for puppies are an excellent option. Walking your dog with a harness is safer than leading them by the collar. Using a dog harness instead of a dog collar makes it easier to control and manage any dog, even those with leash manners that aren’t quite perfect. Check our harness racing.
