Best Friend Suddenly Doesn't Want Puppy
Posted to: News & Entertainment
Ugh... well I was worried this would happen... my best friend got a BYB sheltie pup (against my warnings and advice) a couple months after I got Shippo. I tried to help her train the puppy with simple advice (like don't use puppy pads, confine the puppy when it's not supervised, ignore the whining...

Boost immune systems
Posted to: Health & Grooming
Our new Boston Terrier ( 10 months old) has Mange ( a parasite under the skin folicle?) She is on medication but they think it might also be an immune system problem too. I know with people there are ways to boost the immune system. Has anyone heard of this for dogs?

I just don't care anymore!
Posted to: News & Entertainment
I really don't care about my job anymore. I don't even want to try to do well. I never get any kind of reward for doing well, instead, I get "you'll get better." I do bird maintenance each week and I'm gradually getting faster as I'm getting into a routine. So, when my boss...

I'd like to know more about them. What are they like? What kind of owner do they do best with? How much exercise a day do they need? What are the pros and cons of this breed?

Itchy Crated Dogs
Posted to: News & Entertainment
My poor babies! I am not sure what to do here. My dogs are so itchy when they are in their crates. They are crated at night. It could be that we just notice it more but when they scratch, it makes the most horrendous noise. I have considered their diet. They are both raw fed. They are relatively new...

Adding Oil For Itchy Skin

Hi all. I was told to add salmon oil to Heartly's food to stop his itching. I was also told that corn oil would be better & cheaper by a dog nutritionist. What do you think?

Potty Training Your Dog
Posted to: News & Entertainment
Potty training your dog should start as early as possible while he has not yet caught up on bad habits like urinating anywhere he likes. If you are bringing home a puppy then you are lucky because there are better chances of potty training your dog at this age. However, do not expect a puppy to immediately...

Dogs are Not Toys
Posted to: Training & Behavior
How about a discussion on how we teach JQP that dogs are not toys for their children to mishandle, tease, hug, or poke? Any stories, anecdotes, caveats, or rants are welcome here. Also, welcome - how you taught your dog to be social with children. Parents, put on your hard hats - it may be a bumpy ride...

Crying in crate
Posted to: Training & Behavior
Hi, I've been reading here for about a year, but rarely post. About two years ago I adopted a stray mixed breed, who the vet thought was about 18 months old. He looks like a smallish (60 lbs) Lab with brindle legs and muzzle. No idea what his background is, I suspect some hound in there somewhere...
