I just don't care anymore!

    I just don't care anymore!

I really don't care about my job anymore.  I don't even want to try to do well.  I never get any kind of reward for doing well, instead, I get "you'll get better."  I do bird maintenance each week and I'm gradually getting faster as I'm getting into a routine.  So, when my boss gets an update on how far along I am, I get "oh, youll get better."  A couple of times, I've given my boss a look like "did you jsut say that to me?" and she immediately says "oh!  that wasn't supposed to sound bad."  Yet, she still continues to be very negative about everything.  I had to fight to take a bird to the vet to be euthanized this weekend because it was suffering and we could not get ahold of our regular vet.  I told my boss "its sitting on the floor shaking, and is in terrible pain."  Her reply, "well, we can't get ahold of the vet, there isn't anything we can do."  So I said "I'll call my vet!"  He was closed because it was 5pm on a Saturday, but me made a special trip just to the clinic and waited about 30 minutes for me.  She treats me like I have no idea what I'm doing!  So many people there are very close to quitting because of her.  The only part of my job I like is the training.  Even then, she is so negative to me about it!  I told her that I had scheduled a guy for a 6pack of private lessons and he was going to pay at the first class.  Her reply "well, I wish you would have had him pay now"  So I said "ok, I could have told him well, you have to pay now or I can't do it, and he would have left, or I can let him do that and bring in $300 for you"  Then, she shut up.  I sold the most classes in the district this past week and she said "I wish you would have sold one more."  I brought in over $1000 on my own and beat out many other stores in a few states and I don't even get a compliment unless shes trying to show off to a customer or her boss.  Her true sides show when she is not showing off.

But, the good news...the vicodin popping alcoholic is gone!  He didn't show up for work, but then got mad when my boss told him he had to bring proof he was in the hospital before he could have his job back.  I think that is totally fair since he had done the same thing before, but was in jail that time!
    Thanks for letting me rant!

Go on and rant away, get it all out!

It almost sounds like you should have her job and take over.  Wow, what a *beep*.  Thoes kind of people just enjoy the power they are given, don't worry it will all come back to her somehow.

Poor bird, at least you did the right thing.

I'm sure you will get "better" - a better job someday. [;)]  Think of this as a learning experience.  [:)]

A horrible boss can ruin even the best job......... ughhh......

I hope you can hang in there long enough to get more experience and beef up your resume, and then find a better place to work and do your training. I just quit my job with a similar boss, and I am so excited to be out of here!!

I'm getting this weird idea that this is her management style - that she thinks she is "pushing" you to achieve more - because she expects you are capable of more.  Like a backwards way of improving your performance - and from her perspective, it works - because you DO keep getting better.  What she doesn't get (it seems) is there needs to be a COMPLIMENT in there... say - hey, I know you're good and I think you can do even more - so I've been pushing you as a way to see just how good you can become.  Regardless, she has seemed like a lame manager in most of your posts anyway, so, this "style" - if that's what it is - will bite her in the arse.
I hope seeing it from this perspective (whether that's reality or not) might help you get thru your days a little better... until you find a good manager to work for - or become the manager yourself! [;)]

I used to think that was what she was doing, until she started being just plain mean to people.  Basically saying we don't know what we are talking about.  Talking about employees behind their backs.  Trying to blame us for her mistakes.  Sometimes, she just says very hurtful things to us to our face and to other employees.  The last week, I haven't finished bird maintenance in time and I just tell her "well, I'm doing what I can.  I can't tell a customer that I won't help them because I'm busy."  I called her one day on my day off and asked her to call these people in my class that night to tell them not to worry about bringing their dog because she was in heat and there are intact males in the class.  So she said "are you just asking me to do this because you don't have time?" in her very degrading voice.   I said "NO!  I'm asking you because I'm not there and the class is tonight!  It would be rude to wait until last minute!"  The funny part is that she claims to be completely for positive reinforcement in dog training.  When I showed her the book that I was reading, The Power of Positive Dog Training,"  she said "I am the power of positive training!"  I gave her a very disbelieving look and said "uh uh."   I try not to let her get to me at work anymore and most of the time I blow her nasty comments off.  So, I have to rant somewhere!

Understood and well-deserved to rant away here!!  You sound MORE than tolerant!!  I hope she slips in duck poop- I hear it's very messy and slippery...[;)]

That sounds like a great fate for her!  I have a duck and it is very gross!  My plan is to avoid her as much as possible, but I think I need to talk to her tomorrow.  The small animal maintenace girl and I get so frustrated because we are the only ones who ever clean the sick room, including doing dishes.  Occassionally, someone else will, but not often.  So, everyone talked about it and we decided that it should be everyone's responsibility, not just ours...then today, an assistant manager was liek "she left dishes back there."  So I said "this is the problem!  we stay way past our scheduled time trying to clean so there is no time to finish dishes.  Someone else can help out too!"  That is how it is supposed to be, but somehow, it got all mixed up.  I'm not doing everything anymore!
