42% Protein for a puppy?
Posted to:
Nutrition & Exercise
Can I safely feed Winston (8 month old Vizsla x Choc. Lab) a kibble with 42% protein? What are the consequences of doing so if any? I'm thinking in particular of Solid Gold's B.A.T.M. dry food. its got a great ingredients list with many things that he has not had yet. I'd really like to...

Anti-Barking Products...Any Advice?
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
After trying many situations with my beagle, my sister and I have decided to crate him during the 4-5 hours that our work schedules typically overlap. However, as soon as the apartment door closes, Charlie starts barking. We live in a 5-floor walk-up and are afraid neighbors will start to complain. Has...

Umbilical hernia
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
Our cat, Kleio, has had an umbilical hernia since we first adopted her at 8 weeks. She was supposed to have this repaired when she went in for her spay (this was through a spay/neuter program through the shelter we adopted her at, so we didn't have to pay for the procedure). Well, the veterinarian...

Don't want a cat out of the house.....?
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
My sister has a cat who is about a year old and for the longest I have tried by all means to keep her from escaping out of the house. It is the hardest thing to do especially when your other family members do not help. I don't want her to go out because we have a busy street infront of the house...

Clicker training question
Posted to:
Training & Behavior
I am working on training some tricks with my new rescue border collie, since she has no interest in toys and I want to exercise her mind. I have only had her for a week, so we are both still getting used to each other. We are also enrolled in a beginner obed. class. I did a halfhaerted attempt at clicker...

Should I feed a large breed adult food?
Posted to:
Nutrition & Exercise
Should I feed my ~4 yo golden a large breed adult food? He's about 85 pounds. He's a rather large guy at a healthy weight. I like the Chicken Soup line of foods and he really seems to like the large breed and regular adult. So I'm just kind of stuck on which would be better for him. He also...

Opening Doggie Daycare
Posted to:

Hello, I am opening a new doggie daycare facility in Louisville, KY. I am hoping to find some feedback from dog owners that have attended other dog daycare facilities. I would love to know your thoughts about the pros and cons of the dog daycares in your city. Please post your thoughts! Thank you.

New food for allergic dog
Posted to:
Nutrition & Exercise
I'm currently feeding our cockapoo Canidae ALS dry kibble for about 1 year now. Well it seems like he has a food allergy and after eliminating all his usual treats it seems like its the Canidae food. This is really unfortunate as he loves the food and it's reasonably priced as well. He's...

My city beagle has separation anxiety...

My sister and I adopted a 3-year-old beagle from the SPCA back home in Buffalo and brought him to New York City with us. At first, Charlie didn't act out, so we let him hang around the apartment when we were gone. However, he started to mess (both varieties) in the house while were gone, often when...

My daughter has been on meds for it. She had a rough couple of days, and went to the doc today. He ordered a CT scan to rule out an aneurism or something, so now I'm a worried Mom.

Dog steals stuff to get my attention

Training & Behavior
Hi! I adopted a 3 yr Lab/Doberman 4 months ago. I think her previous owner (who passed away) was very loving, but he probably let her get away with anything. We have corrected her behaviour on many things, but whenever i am on the phone, or sometimes if i am helping my ailing Mum, she will grab anything...

Hello, I hope that someone here can help me with my shy puppy. He is now 9 months old. I adopted him from a shelter when he was 15 weeks. He was not abandoned, but his mom was. My puppy was born in the shelter. So he may not be abused or something. The problem is that he is TOO shy with strangers.[...
