At the bording facility where I work 2 small dogs (a 1 year old pom and 11 year old shih tzu) are to be given up by their owner. She has had them there since April. She comes in monthly to pay for their stay, but never visits with them. Now some personal things have come up and she would like to give...

Hello, I have
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
Hello, I have been given a 8 week old Rotty. I'm currently trying to house train her, however instead of putting her in a crate for crate training I have had to put her on a leash in her own area. We are unable to find crates in Sri Lanka so I have thought about getting a crate made. I have had her...

Should people be allowed to have exotic pets?
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
I believe that, pets are pets, they are all exotic in their own silly and unique way, I think that there is a conflict in thinking about going down the middle of the jungle to find something special... I live in a country full of exotic animals, and I guess that we view them in a different way...but...

Update on new pups
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
They are all eating successfully! Each puppy has gone poop and pee except for the tiny boy, he hasn't gone poop yet but he's eating just as well as the rest of them. They've eaten three times so far, when they started they would only nurse for a few seconds now it's a few minutes. The...

Suggestions for an overly timid dog?
Posted to:
Training & Behavior
As I mentioned elsewhere, Buffy the Basset was retired from a show career because of lack of confidence. We have only had her since Saturday and have been letting her chill, but I'm not sure we are making any progress...or not much. She is spending the day outside (doggie door) by choice and is afraid...

Fun Read-History of Valentine's Day
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
[link http://www.stvalentines.net/stvalentinesdayhistory.htm]http://www.stvalentines.net/stvalentinesdayhistory.htm[/link] This was an interesting read. I had no idea it was such an "old" holiday ! Not necessarily definitive as the real origin can only be guessed at...just posted for fun.

Clicker Training and Permissiveness
Posted to:
Training & Behavior
Luvmyswissy was talking to Spiritdogs about clicker training over in some really long, contentious thread about Cesar Millan, and she made an interesting point that got lost in a bunch of bad, disrespectful behavior. And I would like to talk about this, because I think it's one of those sticky parts...

Dingo Mini Bones.

OH MY GOODNESS. Okay.. let me just say, I have one of THE MOST picky dogs ever. The only type of 'bone' Pedro would even attempt to eat was the Iams Puppy Biscuits ..and sometimes even I had to break those up! At first I just thought hard things hurt his teeth but everytime I'm at Walmart...

Sniffing branches?
Posted to:
Training & Behavior
My dogs will go out of their way to sniff at the ends of twigs and branches...is there an interesting story to tell there? ...like who's been by this path, too, and who else has touched the branch? Our puppy is now picking up the behavior from our other crazy dynamic duo. Maybe they're just Chemists...

Like I mentioned in the Standardbred thread, I've partnered with a good friend who makes these pillow covers. I couldn't sew my way out of a wet paper bag! These are so pretty. We've done quite well with them in the short period of time that we've been doing them. I have a lot of different...

Hey, guys! I'm sure a bunch of you have rescued doggies, so I was just wondering if you would like to post a pic of your rescue doggies and tell us what their story is! How you came to have them with you and/or what their past was like! Thanks! This is Dakota, a black lab that my dad's...

Whats wrong with???
Posted to:
Training & Behavior
Whats wrong with believing that no one trainer owns the Bible of dogs? I mean...people make a lot of claims but, who's the *God* of training? The method of which helps a dog is the right method applied correctly for that dog. So tell me where I'm wrong.

Kaiser is very sick!

I came home today to multiple piles of gross diarrhea. I guess kaiser tried to eat some of it, because later he puked up more diarrhea type stuff. Since then, he's pooped twice and puked about 3 times (the last time it being frothy white stuff) He hasn't done anything in the last hour or so....
