Other dogs make my dog crazy!
Posted to:
Training & Behavior
I currently have a 1.5 year old dog in obedience classes and since she has been in the class she has only become more agressive towards other dogs. She was injured as a puppy and also had a major surgery so for most of her puppy years she was confined to a kennel and did not get much interaction with...

My family has a weiner dog, Wills, and he has lived w/ us for about 2 years. In his first two years of his life he was in 6 different homes and finally found us. In the home he is super sweet and very easy going. No problems grooming him, brushing his teeth or cleaning his ears. He sits in your lap and...

Disc shatters out of the blue?
Posted to:
Health & Grooming
With no trauma, no previous pain, this morning we woke up to find our Doberman unable to stand up (back legs.) The vet said she was in extreme pain, and likely had a ruptured disc. There was a possibility of spinal surgery and steroid injections, but the prognosis was pretty bad - months of pain and...

Xylitol!? HELP!
Posted to:

So, I see Nikki chewing on something pink. I notice chewed up, torn pieces of it whatever it is (I'm thinking paper, and grouchy about that fact) all over on the rug infront of the back door. Nikki is chewing and chomping continuously. I'm tired, lazy... and now panicked, because when I got over...

Transitional Cell Carcinoma
Posted to:
Health & Grooming
I recently took my 7 yr old Beagle/Lab mix Francesca to the Vet on account of what i thought was a UTI. After a urinalysis, I was informed she had transitional cells in her urine, which are usually cancer. Transitional Cell Carcinoma is what we may have to look forward to, which is cancer of the bladder...

2nd stage of teething?
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
Do dogs go through stages of teething? Our guy teethed at the usual 6-8mths. Nothing has changed in our daily routines, plenty of walks and stimulation. Now at 10mths we've caught him biting on chairs on more than 1 ocassion. He's never done this before. And it was a curious bite but an extensive...

Ear infection back again.. pls help!

Hi everyone... I posted this in the Illness section too but hoping that by putting it in here to someone may read it and have some ideas! Well, I had thought I had finally figured out that my Shih Tzu's ear infections were an allergy to Fowl. The NB Venison and Brown Rice did wonders. He was a different...

Black Spots on Testicles
Posted to:
Health & Grooming
I am very worried (maybe paranoid) about something I noticed while grooming my one-year-old Yorkie-Poo last night. I was trimming the hair around his backside (poop gets stuck!) and I happened to notice that he has many tiny black dots all over his testicles. They are separate toward the outer portion...

When I took him to the vets, she said, congratulations! This is the best I have seen the dogs skin ever! Woohoo!! I took him in for licking of his rear, and she said it is an allergic reaction that can't come thru the usual spots because of the conditioning of the skin I have been doing 2x daily...

My GSD's coat looks dull. He eats either innova or canidae and takes 3 fish oil caplets and a vit E everyday. He gets an egg about twice a week as well. What else might help him? I think i have seen you all talk about Nupro before. If i remember correctly, it;s a joint supplement but helps skin and...

Roscoe and I had our first agility class. We went over basics and just got the dogs used to various obstacles. It was a blast, and Roscoe seemed to really enjoy himself. His tail wagged the entire time. [ ] Of course, I realize that could have something to do with the treats that were at the end of each...
