    2nd stage of teething?

Do dogs go through stages of teething?  Our guy teethed at the usual 6-8mths.  Nothing has changed in our daily routines, plenty of walks and stimulation. Now at 10mths we've caught him biting on chairs on more than 1 ocassion. He's never done this before.  And it was a curious bite but an extensive chewing (he was left unattended for 5 minutes as I was in the washroom).

Some teeth can take a long time to come in. In some dogs they can still be 'teething' up to a year old. Not sure if this is the case with your puppy. He could be going through 'puppy puberty' and just be testing you.

Most things I've read say the teething period for adolescent dogs is from around 6-8 months until a year or sometimes 18 months. This is why most people who crate train keep their dog crated when they're away until about 18 months (they're housetrained but still teething & chewing).

Thanks.  I do think he's teething again as we bought him some nice chewy toys and he's going at those like mad.

    Keep those chewies on hand!
