anal glands
Posted to: Health & Grooming
How often do you have your dog's anal glands squeezed? I usually have them done every 6 weeks when he gets groomed, but was wondering if it is okay for the anal glands to be squeezed more often. Jake seems to always be scotting.

Why is she doing this?- Opinions Please
Posted to: News & Entertainment
My 2 yr old min pin, Indy, has been doing some crazy things at night. She used to sleep  erfectly all night, but for the past 3 months or so she won't sleep. I didn't really have too much of a problem with her not sleeping as long as she: 1) didn't bark 2) didn't get into anything...

reason to have a well-behaved dog
Posted to: News & Entertainment
I take Roscoe or Bella to the stores with me all the time. My attitude is that if there isn't a sign on the door that says "No Dogs" and the store doesn't sell open food, I can take a dog in with me. So far, no problems. I take them to Staples, BB&B, the post office, Pottery Bar...

Hi all, and thanks for reading my message. I have a 14 week old Cavalier that we got a couple of days ago. We got him from a local shop (I know, I know) and I think that could possibly be the route of my problem. We are attempting to crate train him. For the most part during the day, we've gotten...

HATES puppies (kind of long)
Posted to: Training & Behavior
Since around 9 mo old Russell has decided he HATES puppies (he's now 15mo). Very young and very docile puppies he's okay with, but rambunctious puppies and pretty much anyone 6-10mo or so is his sworn enemy. On a good day such a pup would have to initiate play for him to react, but sometimes...

Hollow bones
Posted to: News & Entertainment
We get a lot of those hollow bones that are about 6-8". Some have fillings already and sometimes we buy them empty and fill them ourselves. When the dogs are done licking everything out of the middle, they love to just chew on them. Tiny pieces have chipped off after months of chewing some of them...

Dog sick 3 out of 13 weeks. Stunted growth?
Posted to: Health & Grooming
Hi! I have a 13 week old Lab/Coonhound who has had worms twice and Giardia. He had the worms at week 10 and week 12 and Giardia (stomach parasite) at week 12. His eating was sporadic for at least a couple weeks and had diahrea and I believe it stunted his growing. Will he 'make up' the lack...

I am just wondering if there are ways to keep the doggy smell down on the dog themselves and around the house. I love my dogs, but sometimes the smell can be overwhelming. --Sara

Last Saturday I took Scout to the dogpark. He was just running around as usual. When he took off down the hill in the field. I look closer and there are two horses grazing. Thier owners just hanging out making sure they're cooling down. I thought to myself, oh crap, Scout's never met a horse...

Stay away from the horses!
Posted to: Training & Behavior
My 2 yr old min pin runs straight for under our horses feet. She is always on the leash and so she is out of danger, but I will call her to stay away from them and she just pulls on the leash toward them. How do I teach her that is bad and she will get kicked? A reliable recall?
