Barking puppies
Posted to:
Training & Behavior
I just got 2 new puppies last Saturday. I am crate training them and so far it's not going badly. The only problem that I am having is when I get up in the morning...the barking is INSANE until I let them out side. They will go out long enough to have a quick pee...and then the want back in. If I...

Fish Oil and Puppies???

Nutrition & Exercise
I'm new to puppy feeding, and need some advice. Harry is a corgi, 3 mos today. Vet and breeder both recommended "any of the premium puppy kibbles" as his primary diet; I've been using Iams smart puppy (because it was on sale the day I brought Harry home -- scientific, hey?). Problem...

Walking on leash
Posted to:
Training & Behavior
Hi! My GSD pup (13 weeks in a couple of days) is doing wonderfully. One problem we have is he tries to control the leash with his mouth. I've gotten him to drop it by bribing him with treats (but, I must do it repeatedly - sometimes a dozen times in a row!!) But, my husband battles him (tugs...

Help, any groomers out there, what do I do, I have let my chocolate lab's nails, get way too long! He is seven years old and never really enjoyed any type of grooming; ok he is a HUGE baby when it comes to grooming. [ ] He is my husband's hunting buddy and he tolerates baths (although he loves...

Itchy bum.....
Posted to:
Training & Behavior
Rudy, my 11-week old chihuahua mix puppy, has started doing that attractive "hunker down and scoot" move (usually right after pooping). He's had all of his vax up to date, so I can't imagine that he has worms. His poop looks fine. Any reason to worry? Our next vet visit is a week away...

Do you ever wonder if we are in the absolute minority? Dog owners that try to do the right and responsible things for our dogs? Things like researching nutrition, behavior issues, temperment testing, and letting our lives revolve as much around our 4 legged family members? I just feel overwhelmed...

Dog Pooping
Posted to:
Training & Behavior
In the last couple of weeks, my 8-month-old puppy has started to run from her poop as she is doing her business. She'll start pooping and all of a sudden jump up and run even if she isn't completely finished. I'm afraid that she will keep holding it even if she needs to go. What am I supposed...

Doggie Nails
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
Hi all, I just noticed when I was trimming Angels nails that on the underside, where the nail joins the pad part, there are small tears in the skin. Her nails are quite long and I think that this is the reason why. When she walks you can tell that they are to long. With the other dogs, I have their...

gets a toy before coming

Whenever my 9-month old beagle Kaiser seems like he usually needs to get a toy before coming to me. If we are training, he does fine. But generally when I come home or just being around the house, if I go and show him attention or tell him to "come here", he runs around to find the nearest...

This all started with in the last few months. He is getting terrible. This is how Beau was a while back. Calm, quiet, not easily excited, didn't urinate all over the place, listened right away to any command, whether it's sit, come, stay, etc. Now... He doesn't listen nearly as well...

Lizzie Growled at Some Kids!

So Lizzie growled at some kids last night. She really scared the you know what out of me. My sister got home last night from a birthday party and brought some kids downstairs to see me and when Lizzie heard them coming down the stairs she started to bark and growl and hid under the desk. At some point...

Hubby came into the kitchen yesterday afternoon and looked in the pan simmering on the stove and same "Umm, that looks good. Smells good too. What kind of soup is it"? I had to inform it it was the dog's "soup" for their supper---ground turkey, chopped sweet potatoes, frozen...
