    8-5 overnight trailride

Uploading some pictures of the overnight trailride we were on.  Last weekend delievered a horse to southern kansas for a friend of mine and so this weekend we are camping again.  We will be camping the next three weekends to try to get our riding time in before the snow flies :)  The weekend after labor day we also ride on an overnight Newcastle Ne. ride.  if anyone wants to join us it is a great ride.  Usually about 300 horses and a lot of fun!

novice championship class i won in 98...  haven't done much since i am 50 yrs old now and it was fun in my early 40's  now i like to trailride.  :)  though i do have to say i may put chief in a playday or two... he is a 2d barrel horse and i have been having fun playing with him.  guess i have to get off the weight i put on after my hysterectomy and just from aging and see what we can do next spring.

Wow, that looks great!  Your new horse has such interesting color, I love his large clearly defined spots!  That's an amazing trail ride, thank you for sharing the pictures!

Oh, I *wish*, I *wish*, I *WISH* i could go on that trail ride, thanks for the open invite.  Maybe one day!  That'd be so much fun!

Be sure to take lots and lots of photos of it, too OK?

When you go on camping trips, do you have a secondary horse to use for packing?  Or do you just have a large trail bag?  How do you do that?  I'd be very interested in going on back packing after I move next year.  In fact I can't wait.  That's part of the reason I'm moving.

Beautiful saddle, too.  Congratulations on your win [:)]

no...i wish i had an area to do that in.  maybe that will be in my someday :)
we go out for about 6  to 8  hours and head back to camp so no pack horse is needed.  my daughter always takes cantle bags with lots of goodies and a first aid kit for the horses is always along too.  we set up camp out of our gooseneck trailer.  my son also has a gooseneck and we usually go with about 5 other families so we do a makeshift campsite.
the newcastle ride is always the weekend after labor day and you ride along the bluffs of the missouri river.  it is a very pretty ride with trails that are not too bad as long as you know how to trailride.
hopefully this link will work and you can see last years ride.  the palimino is my old trail bud and is a great trail horse but wasn't cowy at all so i sold him to my son's step mom and bought chief so i can trail and still compete in  team penning and run a barrel or two.  here is the link [linkhttp://www.imagestation.com/album/pictures.html?id=2120816680]http://www.imagestation.com/album/pictures.html?id=2120816680[/link]

Wow, Darla!  Those pictures are great!  Thanks for sharing them.

That's incredible... I have never seen so many horses together like that (saddled up and on a ride.)  That dropped my jaw.  That looks like so much fun!  Vickie is an exceptionally good horse, what a good girl!  And Sporty, is a good Sport [:)] Looks like a great "babysitter".  That really looks like SUCH A FUN TIME!  I can't wait to get to the mainland and get to go do some real trails.

Coming back to camp works too! :)  I would love to do a true overnighter, but i think back at the trailer/camp is a great place to start.  How do you keep the horses overnight?  Put them back in the trailer?  ... or??

Thanks again, I really enjoyed the photos [:D]

    hi sera
when people are at these rides they usually do one of three things.  bring portable corrals, use a pickit line or tie to the trailer.  after the newcastle ride their is a huge potluck supper and than a dj so you can dance by the moonlight.

sport is a wonderful babysitter and my daughter absolutely loves that big ol boy.  my daughter is 10 and sport is 17yrs old  and 16hh.  this year vickie became my granddaughter's horse and dustin bought a 9yr old paint stud he had gelded and trained himself.

we are going to a state part for an overnight this weekend.  i will make sure and show you the link so you can see most of the horses.  my son bought a 2yr old grulla paint..sierra who is stunning and he bought one of his stud's last babies, a little bay filly with 4 high whites.  betty was just weaned and brought home last weekend.

if you ever get over this way you need to look me up...i love to trailride and would love to take you along!
